You ever get that feeling somethings watching you when you're home alone? Maybe it's more than a feeling.

Another late autumn day another spooky upload by me with only 1 technically 2 left before the month is finally over. And yet this was a triumph and a massive disappointment due to one major factor which sadly I didn't notice until trying to finish the project leaving it not quite exactly what I intended.

Has a back story many years ago probably over a decade or closer to 15 years I saw this ghost show either on discovery or TLC. It was a dramatic retelling of a suppose true go story taking place on some highway where a teenage girl had died but surprisingly it wasn't centuries nor decades ago but only a few years or months which definitely stuck out to me. Usually ghost including the alleged real ones are typically way older so it was very unique having a ghost that's only been around for a very short amount of time which is probably why I remembered it all these years later.

Another reason was just how exactly the ghost manifested itself to the people telling the story, basically it was a young girl sitting there in the fetal position before looking up revealing a massive hole where her face once was ( I think she died in a car crash or something ) which freak the people royally out minus the one girl who was already freaking out and it's definitely a creepy ass image from what I can remember.

So you're probably thinking, where's the whole? It was going to be there.... Technical difficulties!

I had it all planned out creating 2 images one with the ghost there ( yes it's supposed to be a ghost again ) and one rendered with her turned invisible so that when I inevitably went to make the whole were her face was supposed to be there'd be something behind their, until I did and it was to fucking dark just making it look like it was blank when it was supposed to go through her head showing the background....

Once again I screwed up by simply adjusting the lighting making it too dark behind her which is something I definitely should've noticed, but totally missed!

Once again I have fucked myself over!

To give a little context 1st I originally imagined the scene taking place in the typical suburban home hallway. In my head it was covered entirely in blue light sort of like certain scenes in the cursed games ( yes there awesome and they inspire me a lot ) with the ghost being female possibly the bride witch model from left 4 dead which would've been entirely black with a whole going through her face and some unsuspecting or to be more accurate slightly suspecting woman she was behind. Hence the name which is totally also a reference to the book who goes there which inspired the 1980s movie the thing, technically it was the 30s movie inspired by the book but whatever.

I went from there using the life is strange house props just the upstairs though in general frame of the house for the hallway. I thought of using the witch again but went with this female infected model instead which for some reason in the animation screen the infected from L4D are invisible in the preview window. Like what! God I hate the unpolished nature of SFM sometimes! Okay I hated a lot but I have no other choice and I'm hoping someday the 2nd version which is much more polished from what I can tell will be released and I can move things over.

After I got her in a nice position and warp her a bit to make her look a little more ghostlike I tried to color her using the coloring rig but for some reason it only colored her dress. I tried different settings but nothing worked so I figured I just color over her in gimp 2 then I added Kate Denson from Dead by Daylight which I did consider her for the ghost at 1st but chose differently in the end having her be the hapless victim instead. I adjusted the lighting last just having it basic to see things doing a last-minute color change has it was very blue making it a more natural look. It was a hard balance between too bright too dark as well as keeping the heart shadows on Kate's face which gave it a nice classic horror look.

But then days later I put it into gimp 2 and attempted the adding the whole revealing my mistake, and since I had a no fixing policy so it look like my original plan along with what was going to be the most important part, had to be scrapped! Balls... And it came together so nicely only being screwed up by that one mistake of not lighting up the entire hallway behind her.

I seriously considered doing another render but I'd have to do both images and said screw it. I also moved her by cutting her out of one image and placing her on the other without her to try and position her so I could do the hole but it still did not look right especially without the shadows around her feet. I also tried darkening her but that just made her head disappear so I bit the bullet and just left her has is lamenting my most important part had to be left off due to my mistake.

To be fair it works has is in its own way it's just not the way I wanted it to be originally. Maybe like certain other images I created that were disappointments I can redo it at some point maybe next year maybe not but I think next year I'm going to be a little more cautious about my ideas and scan the image over making sure to seek out mistakes and remove them before rendering.

Also the show was Paranormal Witness which apparently aired on the sci-fi channel along with a few others from 2011 to 2016 which the episode was Emily the Imaginary Friend/The Girl with No Face which aired in 2011 which is probably where I saw it. Also on another side note the hole in her face from the Google images doesn't actually go through her head which is something I concocted apparently but I like my idea much better. Just got a wild hair up my ass to search it up which was nice for some closure.
