You basically have a four-legged companion that you take everywhere you go... literally, everywhere.  Having them with you helps people realize you might need extra help in an emergency, etc.  Though also be aware some people have no clue what they even are, even doctors offices. :/  Or they will think they were "in the service (army, etc.)"  Service dogs help with so much, depending on your disabilities/medical conditions and how they are trained to help you.  It's sort of like having a regular dog when they are not "on duty" or in "working mode".  Though even when they are not working if you give them one of their que commands, they will perform the task for you, or like medical alert dogs are always sort of on duty/have to always be ready to sense those changes and let their partner know.  But they are dogs, not robots.  They have bad or "off/funky" days just like people do.  It will take you longer to do things and go places because you'll have a dog in tow, and you will draw the attention of everyone everywhere when you go, because "OMG A DOG!!!" like people have never seen one before. ;)  It's funny at first, but can get annoying sometimes. But it's part of the package deal. So is trying to fit into a standard public restroom stall with your dog.  Always go for the larger ones made for handicapped access.  Overall though, totally worth it.  :)  I thought I had sent your mom a message with some info in it. If she never got anything from me, let me know and I will dig up some stuff that might help you guys in your search.  I get so many people asking and send so many emails and notes about it, hard to keep track sometimes.   Always here if either of you have any questions, and you can always email me at leopardwolf@gmail.com if you would like. Just be sure and put in the subject who you are so I don't accidentally delete it if I don't recognize the email address.

amazing to find a group for this. I have been diagnosed with dysautonomia a year ago and just a few people knew what it was, what it makes.

Great group!!

Hi, happy to have found your group.  Hi!

I just joined deviantart, so I am bound to make some dumb newbie mistakes, apologies in advance.
