Water... Earth... Fire... Air. Long ago, it was said that there were four nations that could control these elements. Then everything changed when the Equalists took power. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them. But when the world needed her most, she was defeated. A hundred and fifty years passed. And bending disappeared from the world. At least, that's what parents tell their children in their bedtime stories. No one really believes those legends anymore. The Avatar is just a myth. And if there were people who used to be able to control elements, they're not around anymore. Or rather, those who could control elements naturally no longer exist. Plenty of people control the elements. We live in a technological age. Benders in our nation, Terrene, control 'earth'. Or, they control the technology that sits just under the crust of the earth and awaits their commands. Benders in Pyre control fire. Or at least, they control gloves that shoot flames and lightning.

In part 1 of this series (available for watchers), I talked a bit about the basics of making a Webtoon. In part 2b I talked about story ideation and character creation. Here I'll be talking about something you can apply to any aspect of storytelling: choosing character names, creating characters, working out a story and plot, creating full universes and much more. I could have also called this formulaic storytelling. But the basic idea is that you don't have to be totally unique in every aspect to create a good story. You can also use tried-and-true formulas, or systems, that naturally help your imagination along.
