The next trade will be announced on the 1st of March, this Monday. If anyone is still on the fence about joining, now would be the time to submit the entry form. Pairs will be made next week and the official start of the next trade will most likely be next Saturday.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Various things, and all that.

Now that Deviantart has GROUPS, I thought it'd be a good idea to sort of convert this page into a group over the next few months. That way everyone can be more connected, I hope!

The next trade will be announced at the end of the month. Everyone still working on GRR can still finish up. Don't feel too bad, I need to send mine, too.

Hint for the next trade: it's nothing to do with Saints such as Valentine or Patrick... it's a bit more ancient in the spiritual vibe - or very scientific if you like.

Happy Lunar New Year! (that's a hint too) :o

:orange: Green Growth Garden :rose:
   -(or GRR)-
a new trade starting soon

Gardens are pretty places brimming with life. For this challenge, we will be making outfits inspired by nature, particularly the green matter. As with all trades, you can go crazy deep about growth and life and death and all that, or just sew a flowery dress. It's up to your imagination.

Pairs will be announced by next weekend. Please get back to me about your involvement if you haven't had a chance to yet. Also, if you are interested in joining: now is the time.

:shamrock:For any questions, just e-mail me at GoggledAvenger@yahoo.com or reply here.

The idea of time is as vast as any abstract thought. For this trade, I thought we should concentrate on the part where we measure it: Chronology. There are many ways we measure time, from global standardized seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, etc. to more esoteric arena of moments and eras.

This trade is about the passage or marking of time. You can use this very literally with clockwork motifs, or as an inspiration for a fashionable outfit designed from multiple times, culminating into one piece "through time". Other suggestions: explore word roots of chronos and tempo and express these in a piece for the trade; reimagine a fond memory of your past in cloth; study how other cultures view the idea of time and if they measure it in different ways, then use this to create what thou wilt; or follow any other thread that chronology shows you and make something wonderous.

At this time I am open to suggestions as to whether this should be a standard 2 person pair off or a group oriented trade. This will also impact the suggested due-date, etc. Once decided, groups or pairs will be announced in the standard way next weekend (Aug 8,9). Feel free to post any suggestions or comments here or e-mail me at GoggledAvenger@yahoo.com.

code /koʊd/ [kohd] noun, verb, cod⋅ed, cod⋅ing.

–noun
1.a system for communication by telegraph, heliograph, etc., in which long and short sounds, light flashes, etc., are used to symbolize the content of a message: Morse code.
2.a system used for brevity or secrecy of communication, in which arbitrarily chosen words, letters, or symbols are assigned definite meanings.

For our purposes, we will be using these definitions. There are many more, such as laws or silent code of conduct. For this exchange, we will be focusing on the ideas of converting information into something smaller. There are any number of ways you can go with this. Some familiar, others foriegn. From binary code, to Navajo codetalkers and semaphore... any code is available for your inspiration.

For this exchange, we will be paired as per usual. You may make a hat, an outfit, shoes, or anything else for the doll size you are assigned. The theme is again a very loose one, and there are hundreds of way you can go with it. You may use the very basic idea of codes as a typographic decoration, use morse code as a repeating design element, or simply use a fabric with binary code printed on it. As usual, the sky is the limit. You can get as deep as you want with this... or as shallow... it's up to you and your inspiration.

I will suggest that the outfits be finished and hopefully exchanged by July 31st. This gives everyone two months to plan, construct, and send.

Pairs will be announced via e-mail this weekend. If anyone cannot participate due to life, or wants to join for this trade, please e-mail me straight away.

Have fun, fellow Doll Clothes Exchangees. ; )
