Hey guys, now alot of Batman movie talk is going around again to be honest I can't remember a time when there wasn't any. Now as alot of U guys know im a huge fan of the original Keaton suit, but that's jumping the gun so we shall start from the beginning.
1943 Batman Lewis Wilson
This was the 1st Batman on screen i think this was a very close to a comicbook counterpart for 1943. I would like to see some colour photos but im pretty sure none exist. I have heard that they used many different colours due to the black and white format so you could see batman in the dark scenes. The suit overall is made up of a bodysuit either white or grey and the classic batman elements the logo is small with no yellow oval (like you would tell anyway). The cape is short ending at the bottom of his thighs they did scallop the bottom of the cape which impressed me. The boots are standard batman boots with the pointed top. The gloves have the scalloped fins which look cool but because they are made of cloth so they never stay in place. The cowl/mask is ok for the 1st time round the mouth hole is far to big in my opinion and the made his eye holes the same shape as the comic book white eyes like a sideways triangle, the ears were real funny looking aswel. The belt looks like its made from the same stuff as green rangers shield from MMPR. Last of all the underpants well they ate there nuff said. All in i was impressed for the 1st on screen Batman just how faithful they were to the comicbooks.
1949 Batman Robert Lowery
Now this is a very cool on screen Batman 1st off they clearly started again in my opinion rather then recycle what had been done before. They used the black and grey style this time (I no its in black and white lol) the only thing I don't like about this suit is the ears on the cowl/mask. The cape is much longer and the batlogo is bigger the belt is nearly the same as the 1st serial but this time they look like they've added capsules. The boots look a little shorter. A little side note I love the fact that this batman has his cape drape over him instead of throwing it over his shoulders. This is one of my favourite Live action Batman costumes.
1966 Batman Adam West
Who doesn't love the West, the 1st in colour Batman. The costume is also so close to the comicbooks with its bright colours. The suit is a grey bodysuit with the then new yellow oval batlogo. The logo is alot lower down his chest then in the comicbook. The cape cowl boots gloves pants are made in silk alot of people say its blue but it is purple I believe even in the series they say its purple when the GCPD are looking for batman his costume is described as purple. The cape is shorter again like the 1943 serial version and is kept back over his shoulders. He has in my opinion the best belt of any live action Batmans with the huge pockets and a gold belt buckle with a batlogo engraved on it. His boots are shorter they look a little stupid. His gloves are long and still have the scallops on them but they suffer the same fate as the original serials with them flapping everywhere. Now for the cowl for nostalgia I love the show but in reality the cowl is so wrong the mouth/nose piece is too high up you can see Adams nose, most people know that batmans nose is covered by the cowl. His eyes are half circle shapes and have silly light blue eyebrows. Believe it or not that is the silliest thing on the cowl, its the fact that they made the black shading design over the face of the cowl just like in the comicbooks I don't think they realised it was just a shading design. Those little ears there are two types of Batman fans long ears and little ears. Who R U ????
Well if uve survived this long thank you so much for reading. Part 2 up soon.
