This creature appeared in downtown Manhattan and headed towards the SEELE buildings, draining several blocks of their power, causing power outs and chaos. With Monarch’s NYC base out of commission with both the power and generators knocked out, they request the SSSP and HEAT’s assistance.

However before HEAT, Zilla and the Science Patrol can even respond the monster disappears into thin air. Monarch and the SSSP are at a complete loss, as there are no records, sightings or information on the creature or even creatures of this nature.

Because the creature managed to take out all electrical sources and devices in its vicinity, no information was collected on the creature. Nick Tatopoulos however, thinks that Zilla could be able to track the creature. 

Zilla, along with an escort of the SSSP’s maser cannons, tracks down the beast to the SEELE building and sure enough the “Crackler”, as Mendel calls it, reappears and proceeds to attack the building with a primal rage. Zilla attempts to take it down but it seems only completely interested in attacking humans.

Not only is the “Crackler” ignoring Zilla, but is impervious to his breath and physical attacks. The SSSP’s maser cannons however have an effect. Hernandez realises that the creature is vulnerable to electrical attacks.

The SSSP and Zilla manage to lure and corner the creature in a power plant and trap it there. The “Crackler” attempts to drain the plant, but it becomes too much for it and it overloads, injuring itself. Taking advantage, Zilla uses his breath to destroy the power plant around the creature, finally destroying it. NYC remains on high alert after this incident, despite the monster not reappearing. People affected have started rioting and the entire city is in uproar and calling for the Kaiju to be destroyed. 

At NERV, Dr Ritsuko Akagi, reports that Shin Gojira’s little psychic creation indicates that the Gojira’s intelligence and mental capabilities are evolving into an extremely dangerous threat that could pose problems in the future. 

Commander Ikari dimisses Ritsuko’s concerns and asks about the forced mutation of Gojira. Shin Gojira is still resisting the mutagen and has forcibly neutralised it, seemingly mentally. Professor Fuyutsuki is impressed that Shin Gojira can control his evolution to such a degree but Ikari is frustrated after a year of trying and gives the go ahead for ‘Project Ashihara’.
