Ienzo underwent a similar heart splitting as Ven, to extract the sadness in his heart that overwhelmed him after the loss of his parents. This was done in a lab and since they lack the proper equipment (a keyblade like Xehanort) the experiment failed. He loss the part of his heart connected to his parents, which remove the pain he still felt about their death, but he also loss his ability to express any other emotion. which is why even at a young age, before he became a nobody, he expressed little to no emotions since he has an incomplete heart. And yes, this is some basic anime plot I pulled out of my butt, but hey it's Kingdom Hearts, you never know.
