Chapter 6: Pillars of the Dream
We entered the town’s central building and saw an open room with fountains, benches, and a big blue sapphire above. I was in awe of the calming nature of the setting.
“This room is making me very calm and content. What kind of magic is at work here?”
“Well. There is a long-believed truth that gems, like sapphires, have the inert property to clear one’s mind,” Asler explained, “So we have gathered a lot of them. Though with the dream world so close to this one held aloft, its calming properties expand to the edge of this very city. This gem is normally blue, which, from our recollections with past clients, means to take on life’s challenges and conflicts head-on.”
“It must be brighter due to me,” I replied, “With my subconscious working to ruin our lives and all.”
“I think after the pillars find your other self, we will use all the gems we have to mellow you both out to make amends and become whole again,” Asler answered, “Hopefully with enough effort, both of you can move on from the past and look forward to the future”. Ah, speaking of the Pillars, there they are with Rem.”
Rem was with four people of different races in the center: a female Zora with a long fin and spear, a light brown Goron with satchels, and a female human with rounded ears and a drum. Lastly, a blue & white bird-like personage equipped with what looked like a crossbow. We walked towards them as Rem was talking about a plan of action.
“So, in the end, we will activate the four pillars of the Dream Realm all at once, then we will pinpoint the location of the Princess’s other half,” Rem explained, as she turned to look at me. “Princess Zelda, how are you feeling?”
“I’m still a little woozy,” I replied.
“That should subside very soon,” Rem said. “While I prep the gate to the Dream Realm, the Pillars wanted to meet you.”
The Goron stepped forward first.
“It is an honor to meet you, Princess. I’m Gorart. I hail from the city of Hytopia, where people express their creative talents. I’m an artist & sculptor by trade. Rem sought me out when she was traveling to Hytopia during a crisis. Princess Styla was cursed to wear ugly clothes and her fears & nightmares took hold. I had to use my artistic skills to bring back the positive side of Princess Styla from the nightmares. After the crisis was cleared, Rem asked me to be part of her pillars to keep the dreams of others stable. Though I’m not the strongest Goron around, I still try to do my part to get you whole again.”
Then the Zora came forward, with a worried look on her face.
“Oh, my Princess, I’ve heard everything from Rem about you and I want to make everything right. I’m Maya and I noticed beforehand from your face’s expression that I’m a Zora of a different nature. I am a mixed-water Zora, and I can survive in both fresh and salt water. I hail from Labrynna, a land that embraces the flow of time. Rem sought me out after she heard of my plight to heal our Lord Jabu Jabu from a deathly poison. An evil poisonous Skulltula had latched to our Lord, causing a change in the water flowing around the land. To find a cure for Him, The Sage of Time told me of a weapon up a freshwater stream, which I wasn’t used to, to obtain this weapon, which took the form of a Trident & then used it to pry the spider off and drown it in the depths of the ocean. Thanks to my strength to overcome my weakness, I now help to bring up those depressed of mind and heart to light & help them grow strong mentally. I’m sure with my help, we will find your other half and get you back together.”
Next was the bird personage who walked up next. He walked up with his feather wings, rubbing his beak in a thinking pose.
“Hmm, your subconscious did a very bad crafty deed, Princess,” The Bird said “My name is Roc, I’m the crafty one of the group, I help on making very useful items for our team. Rem sought after my abilities after many of my “Roc” items have helped many heroes and cultures to overcome an evil that has plaque them. The time Rem found me was after I was in the Castor Wilds working on a new item that would not only make a person jump high but allow them to glide on the winds for a time. The Wind Tribe wanted to become one with the winds of the sky since they mastered the winds on the earth, and I wanted their dream to come true. So, with some timeshift stone fragments, Wind from the wilds and my new cape, crafted the Ocarina of Wind, which lifted not only the wind tribe into the sky but also their entire city into the sky above the clouds. It was so high even I couldn’t fly up there. I do wonder if they mastered the wind of the sky. By the time the city disappeared in the clouds, Rem found me and asked if I could help her on keeping dreams safe, and well, the Dream is a big customer to keep happy and I’m up to the task for this. If I can make a city fly into the clouds, I surely can craft a way for you and your subconscious to be back together.
And at last, the female human came forward with a song in her voice and used her drums to a beat.
“I’ve come to help the Princess of Destiny by Rem’s direction. I go by the name of Alora, and I am from the land of Holodrum, a land that respects the aspect of the Seasons.” Alora said “I was tasked to become a Pillar by Rem when she sensed my land in a seasonal chaos when the Temple of Seasons was corrupted by a Demon Dragon in the form of a Ball & Chain knight. I helped keep the people of the land to keep the rhythm of the seasonal flow alongside the hero of man and the Sage of Seasons. We all restored the Seasons to normal. Rem saw how my power of rhythm kept the power of the fear of the seasonal chaos in check is that how I joined the team. After all, when this is all done, I’ll have to perform in Hyrule someday.”
Rem, with her hands glowing with light, opens the gate to the dream world, then walked up to me to explain the plan.
“Ok, I have made the dream world connection. We have a plan, Princess Zelda. The Pillars will go to key points in the Dreamworld to find where your subconscious is, while Asler, you and I go to the Vision Woods to get the Dreamwaker. We will use it to bring you back together if everything goes well.”
Rem then turned to her Pillars “All right, Pillars, let’s meet up on the other side of the gate and take stock of the world at the Garden of Entry. I’ll walk through the gate with Zelda to make the trip into the Dreamworld easier.”
All the pillars nodded in agreement and stepped through the gate, then Asler stepped through. Then Rem took me to the gate.
“The Dreamworld might feel odd at first, but I’ll assist you in passing through the gate and your clothes will help you maintain balance. You will know when this is done. Maybe you should write this down so you can remember this for later generations. I feel The Legend of Zelda has a nice ring to it.”
I kind of blushed at the title Rem gave to me when I would write this and with that, I took Rem’s hand as we walked through the gate to start my journey.
We continue with The Legend of Zelda: The Dreamwaker with Chapter 6 in such we meet up with the Pillars and get to know them better as characters before heading out in the mysterious lands of the Dream.
