My Bio

Hello, I'm Grata.
I'm an architect and professional traditional media artist. My main focus is on graphic artworks, book and music albums covers and book illustrations. I mostly used to represent oldfashioned things: old stories from XIX century, medieval architecture, myth and legends.

A short story of "how to" create light and transpaernt architecture interior via watercolor. This is the interior of romanesque church in France. Pretty simple and brutal: squat and simple columns, bare vaults without decorations and carvings, laconic arches. Perfect thing to make it bright and unusual with the help of color. For this work I was using only six colors: - ocher - cadmium yellow - english red - carmin - violet - ceruleum Pairs of ocher + english red and cadmium yellow + carmine gave me the main base colors. Here are two secrets: - mix in different proportions, see how it fits better, make overflows. - in each pair, one color is transparent, and the second is opaque. I have to disappoint you, I am not that old ... not a Dandy .... maybe you can call me a Flaneur - but Never ever a Promeneur, whom had been ascribed taking care of a turtle walking along with themselves, to keep a low and calm pace, as Walter Benjamin says in his Arcade Project.

Well then, I will call you a Flaneur ;)

Dear Grata, your work is absolutely magnificent, both very realistic and, in some cases, very surreal. Your paintings are particularly vivid, full of emotion, and each one tells its own story beautifully. I love your work and can't wait to see more.
