A night to keep forever pt 2

Why am I up!! I should be in bed! Anyway it’s story time!

It was a rather peaceful day for Petra nothing out of the norm. She waited the tables, washed the dishes..uh..took care of some trouble her daughter got into earlier. Over all a normal day .. except for this new empty feeling inside her. Petra couldn’t understand it . What was so different? What could be causing her to feel this way?

She had her work, her home, her pets, her daughter… why would she still be feeling empty she wondered as she gathered the cups from the empty tables. Little did she know the expression on her face showed her inner troubles. As she passed by a gentle colored curio her expression caught her glance and in concern the curio asked her what was troubling her.

Petra stopped a moment to look at the kind curio a bit nervous and confused . Petra took a moment to think ,and gave a sigh before looking away and setting a cup on the counter .

“ I don’t know what’s wrong sadly. But it’s nothing to worry about dear . Anyway Is there anything I can get for you?,” Petra asked gently trying to change the subject.

The gentle curio could see right past her tricks though and answered,” no im fine . Very content with my order but thank you …though you say it’s nothing to worry about, and well yes, it maybe nothing to worry about but perhaps it be a good idea to talk about it? I mean if it’s got you this bothered I’m sure you need to at least figure out why, right?,”

Petra got a little nervous hearing this ,but after a moment realized perhaps she did have to talk a little…at least to find out why she was feeling so empty.

“ honestly I don’t know why I’m so upset today,” the golden curio answered as she collected a few more cups from the empty tables.,” I have a very good life.. a daughter, pets, a good job. I just can’t tell why I feel so empty all of the sudden …,” she added a bit sorrowfully.

The sweet curio took a sip of her cup and smiled softly before answering,” ah I see … you labeled many good things yes …except a partner. Is it possible you might be missing a connection with a special someone?,”

Petra perked her ears as she answered this and blushed slightly. ,” a p-partner! ,” she yelped out. Just as she said this she covered her mouth with her paw and looked around to see if anyone saw that sudden outburst. ,” I mean … ,” she stuttered,” I just ..no… it’s been ten years since I last had a partner ,and well …it didn’t end well for me… why would I want to put myself through that pain again. ,” she asked softly.

“Well it’s only natural for us to desire a life mate,and seeing as you are a single mother it be logical to think that be what was missing from your family,” the elegant curio answered with a smile. ,” am I wrong?,” she asked with a slight head tilt.

Petra went silent for a moment to think before answering again. Was a partner really what she wanted… was it really what she needed.. Petra shook her head and went on her way,” yes, perhaps that is soemthing I’d like but… it’s impossible for me,” she said with a somber tone.

“How come?,” the curio asked

“ well to be honest.. I’m uh…a little extra fluffy… if you know what I mean and uh… sigh I’ve failed many times to carry kits…basically I’m barren so I can’t give a partner a child even if I wanted to … so In turn I’m unappealing and in able to provide a child for anyone who’d love me..basically useless ”

The elegant curio chuckled softly before saying,” oh dear you’re not useless,and none of those things should matter! I mean for really hon a true love will love you even if you’re a little extra fuzzy,or even if you can’t have a child. You just have to give it a shot and you’d be surprised ! I’m sure a true loving person thats perfect for you is just around the corner!,”

Hearing this idea really did make Petra feel better but still she was scared to try at love again. She gave a gentle breath and answred the curio,” maybe it could be true… but I haven’t dated in ten years. How would I even start my search for a new mate and where could I even begin to look ? ,”

The curio thought a moment as she took another sip of her cup, and suddenly remembered,” oh! Right well there is a gathering tonight on the beach for curios who are lonely to get together and mingle. Perhaps you can go there for a while!,” she answered with a spunky tone.

Petra smiled seeing her excitement and thought…perhaps it would be a fun idea..at least to interact with a few more curio and who knows maybe she could find a new partner.

“ perhaps so,” she answered with a small smile,” I’ll give it a shot! ,” she said once more with a bit more pep.

“That’s the spirit,” the elegant curio said with cheer.

Finally Petra could tell what was missing in her life. The only thing now was to figure out who in their wide ,wild world her new partner would be.
