As a Duchess, Wumba has responsibilities to deal with, she may not be a queen yet her role is important as well. Regardless of what you may know 'Duchess" means Wumba is not married to a Duke. In their world, including 'Bespira' and where Duchess Wumba comes from, a lady can be one on her own if acquired from the family or given the position by the current Duke and/or Duchess.
