I’m not gonna mince words here. I REALLY need people to actually participate in this commissions drive I’m doing. Not just seeing it while scrolling & giving this a like just out of pity. I need help getting this off the ground so I can survive.
Well, Hurricane Milton's passed Orlando. There's no damage, me & my roommates are safe, but the power has gone out. (right now, I'm using whatever saved power's left on my laptop)
As you guys might know, there's a massive hurricane coming to FL this week, plowing through the whole state. It's just at a category 1 right now, but you never know just how strong it'll get. What I'm getting at is if when October 15th comes & you DON'T see any posting about the D@100 finale, it'll be because the power to my house MIGHT be out. (& who knows how long it'll last if that happens) So if that does happen, expect the finale to be posted November 22nd instead. I'll give another quick status update if the power DOES go out in that time. (I'll wanna conserve as much energy on my laptop & phone for such an emergency)
Some of you may have noticed that with D@100, when it comes to the bts/"people who made it possible" side of things, I've only been focusing on heads of the company & not highlighting the individual artists, writers, musicians, etc. Lemme reassure that this hasn't been out of neglect and trying to ignore their historical contributions. It obviously goes without saying that the people who make these movies, shows, parks & everything else possible is the reason Disney is the way it is. They're just as much the backbone of the company as the fictional characters they created. Like Thor Ragnarok said: "Asgard is not a place, it's a people." Same principles applies.
The only reason I haven't been including them in any of my pictures is twofold. 1 is that even if know of when some of the more famous people joined, what about the lesser known contributors or ones we don't know when they joined? Wouldn't wanna leave them out. And 2, the pictures would've ended up too cluttered. There's also a 3rd reason, but that's private matters.
(Sorry if that seemed self-indulgent, the strike's just been making me think of the approach I've been going with. I support WGA and SAG-AFTRA)
Remember these dates for next year. It may or may not have something to do with the newly reworked Disney at 100.
