Is Definitely Afraid of Some Ghosts

When he was just a child, Gideon Estevez saw a ghost. His grandmother had appeared in the dead of night, standing in the corner of his room and staring calmly at him. She didn't speak, even when Gideon asked her what she was doing there. Why she looked so pale. Why the room was so cold. It had not been until the following morning that Gideon learned his grandmother had died hours before he had seen her.

This event shook Gideon to his core, causing him to dedicate his life to his faith. He studied and graduated seminary, becoming ordained at the relatively young age of 26, becoming a beloved member of his parish and community.

Unbeknownst to even his fellow clergymen, however, there was a growing turmoil within Gideon, and shortly after his 30th birthday, the young priest disappeared. Search parties were raised and authorities contacted by people who feared the worst, but one week later Gideon returned. He seemed haggared and agitated, and to everyone's great shock, requested a dispensation, parting ways with the church he loved so much. He never gave a reason.

From then on, armed only with his trusty crucifix, Bible and a water bottle filled with Holy water, Gideon sought out those suffering from the presence of ghosts, demons and/or having other kinds of "undead difficulties". It was a mission that would force him away from his friends of the past, but the path might just cross directly with someone else...


This is the second of two main characters I've designed for a story I'd like to turn into a comic at some point in the future. Two characters of wildly different personalities and worldviews are forced to team up to hunt ghosts and fight the never-sleeping legions of darkness.
