"pt.1 Dying Days"

PAGE ONE

Characters: page one : Sam Walker (American Revere). Johnny "Razz" Barry (small time thug. member of the street gang "The Dominion"). Lt Karl James (communicating on police radio/walkie talkie).

Plot/Location/Set up: Motorcycle cop Sam Walker finds himself on foot, chasing down Johnny Barry. Sam is near the water off of 192nd and Marina del Rey park in Miami, FL. A row of warehouses and fish packing companies are to his immediate left. The water to his right (note fencing). The ground/asphalt is covered in old potholes and puddles from a recent rain. The building are dingy and smelly as per locale. Note the time of day is 6pm on a late summer evening. Most of the warehouses are closed with the exception of some fish packers who are witnessing the chase. A couple of the fish packers are smoking cigarettes at the entrance of the loading dock (garage like metal door raised open). Johnny Barry is aware he is being chased by Walker. He's scared and running hard for his freedom. Walker gives chase while communicating with police Lt Karl James on a small walkie talkie.

PANEL 1

First person view. Johnny Barry running in foreground. Walker in background (on walkie). Warehouses on the left. Fences on right. Puddle splashes beneath feet.

Caption 1: Miami, Florida. Late Summer Afternoon near Marina del Rey.

Johnny : (breathing deeply and rapidly) hff hff hff

(on walkie) Lt Karl James: Wait for backup to arrive, Walker! I'm almost there.

Sam Walker (comm with James) : No can do, buddy! *hff hff* I'm may be on foot, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna lose this scumbag waitin' for the cavalry to arrive!

PANEL 2

Head and shoulder shot of Walker.

James : Don't try n' be no hero, Walker.

Walker : This ain't about no heroism…this is about making this piece of shit accountable.

PANEL 3

Split screen with Karl James on left. Sam Walker on right.

James : We know what this is about!

Walker : Then you know you need to trust me on this, Karl. This scum knows who murdered my wife! My wife is dead dammit!

PANEL 4

Walker is visibly gaining on Johnny. Walker is maybe 20 yards behind now. Two fish packers having a smoke outside a loading dock witness the chase.

Caption 2 : Johnny "Razz" Barry has spent more than half of his 28 years running from the law, stealing, murdering, and all in all breaking as many of God's commandments as he could. Johnny might prefer the wrath of God to the wrath of Sam Walker.

Walker : RAZZ! You'll tire out way before I will! You know that! I know that!

Razz Barry : *hff hff* f**k you Walker! *hff hff* You ain't getting' me n' I got nothing' to say to you, a$$hole!

Walker : You've preyed on innocent people for the last time, Razz! I might be too late to save my wife, but others will be safe from you!

Razz ; I don't know shit bout your wife! *hff hff*

Fish packer 1 : Oh Lord! WTF?!

Fish Packer 2 : Isn't that Razz?

Fish packer 2 : mmhm.

PANEL 5

Razz is in the extreme foreground (face is the majority). Intense fear is evident on his face. Walker is closing in on him.

Walker : I've been looking fer you for months, Razz! Hunting you God dammit! Hunting you down! You think I'd do that if I didn't know you knew something?!

Razz : I swear I didn't do shit, Walker! Damn you I swear it!

James (on comm) : Walker?! You there?! WALKER?!

Walker (on comm) : Sorry mah man! It's time for Sammie to sign out. Wish me luck…and hurry yer ass, will ya?!


PAGE TWO

Characters : Walker & Barry only.

Plot/Location/Setup: Walker continues to chase down Barry. Barry Jumps over a large fish storage container. The container is a few feet outside a loading dock. He's clumsy and hurts himself, while barely making it over. Sam leaps over the container like a world class hurdler. Barry then comes across a fence about 7 feet high. He struggles to make it over and fumbles around as he lands to the ground on the other side. Walker leaps nearly the full 7 feet and easily makes it over. Barry is chased around the corner of a warehouse. Barry disappears around the corner.

PANEL 1

Caption 1 : The winds of change hang in the humid air as thickly as a hurricane cloud. Johnny "Razz" Barry is not the cancer. He's just the mutated cell. He's a part of a far more ravenous and sinister disease.

Panel view is first person from a distance. Silhouette and shadows. Fish container to the far left. Razz center. Walker to the right.

PANEL 2

Razz tries to leap the fish container.

Caption 2: A virulent strain. A virus hiding in the body of the people. Feeding on fear. Spreading like a wildfire and devouring the very tenants of democracy like an engorged tick. Fat on blood. Unremorseful. Tongue full of lies.

PANEL 3

Walker jumps over the container in a single bound. Sam Walker is a world class athlete.

Caption 3 : Evangelical. Pragmatic. Charismatic. Messiah.

PANEL 4, 5

Razz jumps a 7 foot fence. Has trouble making it over. Trips after hitting the ground.

Caption 4: Words we've used to describe the Most Holy. The Grace of Christ himself.

PANEL 6, 7

Caption 5 : Society's great blunder if not recognizing truth through deception. What is not graceful is hard. What is not compassionate is vengeful. Evangelical. Pragmatic. Charismatic. Messiah. Not the sole description of Christ. These are also explications of the Beast. He who is full of lies. Engorged on blood. Society's great folly.

PANEL 8

Razz juts around the corner of a warehouse. Just a part of his leg and his shoes showing. Walker is just a couple yards behind him. Walker's back is to the foreground.

Caption 6 : Society must learn who speaks the truth and who feeds them lies. Who are the believers and who are the deceivers? What is good and what is evil? What price freedom? And at what cost…death?
