It happened too quickly for the Duelists at the bottom of the lake.

A Duel that ended in Soulburner's victory and claiming the freedom of his girlfriend from Lightning's control couldn't have gone any worse for him. The singular spectator of the Duel between Soulburner and the former Queen Drake, Bohman, saw to it that neither Duelist would follow him towards the next destination, collapsing the invisible barrier preventing water from occupying, both Duelists still inside.

What felt like a monstrous current slammed into the Salamangreat Duelist's chest, almost forcing every drop of remaining oxygen out of his lungs. His teeth clenched hard, his eyes squinting shut from the pain of losing air, unable to fight against the current. Young Homura Takeru couldn't see any sight of Yosei Kamikari, his golden eyes barely able to open in the rushing of cold water all around his body. He was much more concerned for her safety, despite the fact he was already gripping on the edge of drowning himself.

Even as the current slowed to a stop, Soulburner felt bile rise to the top of his throat, his heart pounding widely in his chest, as he grabbed at his neck with both of his hands, bubbles of air leaking from between his teeth like a broken pipe. Even if he tried to beeline it for the surface, his body still writhed from the Duel he managed to survive by the skin of his teeth. Moving even an inch sent waves of agony in his body. Even if his nearest ally, Playmaker found his exact location, it'd be far too late to save him.

He was done for.

Coughing and sputtering on the freezing water around him, Soulburner felt his world spinning, his golden eyes growing more misty, his pupils fading into the color with every flooded breath he inhaled. A weak yet muffled cry escaped from his waterlogged voice, his body falling completely limp, head tilting forward as he finally gave into the lake's everlasting grip.

It was then, as he was ready to give up, that a warm sensation placed themselves up to his mouth. A gentle yet focused breeze flowed into his near drowned lungs, Soulburner feeling the relief through shut eyes.

That clawed palm stroking his face. That kiss he missed so much the past week. He didn't even need to loom in front of him as the figure began to ascend towards the surface with him in her dragon tails grip.

Yosei hadn't left him to drown. Not this time.
