Forgot to post this here for suggestions: got an idea for a parallelism scenario based on a joke a friend made about the North Korean soldiers currently fighting against Ukraine being the modern equivalent to the Hessian mercenaries fighting against the United States during the American Revolutionary War- so, the Russian invasion of Ukraine parallels the American Revolution and its aftermath, with Ukraine as the fledgling USA and Russia as Britain. All Korean-speaking areas collectively parallel Germany, obviously, and either Crimea, Luhansk, and Donetsk or Belarus are Canada. Maybe the analogue to the post-Articles of Confederation United States is a pan-Slavic state pulling together Ukraine, Poland, Czechia, and Slovakia? Uncertain what countries to use as analogues to the major powers of the time- I'm thinking the European Union parallels Spain/its Latin American colonies and the United States and the countries dependent or semi-dependent on its military (South Korea, Taiwan, Japan,
