Saphira Costume

So, last year for Halloween, I was Saphira from the Inheritance Cycle. I made the costume myself, but never got around to posting it. Whoops!

Wings are fully collapsible with a dowel skeleton. The tubes of fabric holding the dowels are just hot glued on, because I ran out of time to stitch them down (I needed the costume ready in time for DragonCon last September). The dress itself is made from a scale printed cotton fabric from Spoonflower.com. The liner is a simple polyester (or something) from Walmart, as are the tights. The wig and petticoat are from Party City. The shoes are just some sandals I got from JCPenney.

For the makeup, I used a basic facepaint (again from Walmart) to dab on little pseudo-squares to give the impression of scales, as well as black eyeliner, and a blue glitter liquid eyeliner.
