My New Year's Resolution is: be proud of whatever I make.
A big issue with me is that I feel embarrassed by whatever I make. Even basic sketches make me feel like I just ruined what could have been a masterpiece. I always think I did the pose wrong, or I made the facial features wonky, or I put too much shading, or not enough shading, or that it's too generic, or some other catastrophe. I forget that art is a learning experience. Even if I fall short of what I wanted to achieve, I have to remember that I'm still gaining experience and growing as a creator.
Therefore, it is my vow to look at what ever piece of art I make; no matter if it's scribbly, wonky, nondescript or just plain wrong, and say I did a good job.
What's your New Years' resolution?
