THEY TOTALLY CAN BE RIVAL BUDS >:0!! Hoku was a big shot captain before his former first mate (and current ex) Valter overthrew him and left him for dead. So Hoku is sort of a wash up right now as he's just getting back into society after making his way back to civilization and is like being a couch bum/unwanted house guest.
