Health and Security in Cuba
In line with the recommendations of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) to guarantee health protection and emergency assistance to travelers in each of the nations they visit, since it began to boost its tourism development Cuba has been concerned about this issue, which involves insurance, along with assistance services and medical services in Cuban health facilities, among other benefits.
Since 2010, the Cuban authorities have even established regulations to ensure that every person who arrives in the country complies with the requirement to have insurance with medical coverage valid in the national territory.

With offices in the main tourist poles, an alarm center that works 24 hours a day and a team of experts trained to respond to any request, ASISTUR is linked to hotel medical offices, international clinics, pharmacies and specialized hospitals, which are accredited for the medical care of foreign visitors or residents in the country.
The company also has contractual relationships with another large network of national service providers with whom it ensures much more support for the assistance work. It also operates in conjunction with some 200 insurance companies and assistance companies from abroad so that their insurance benefits can be made effective in Cuba.
Cuban Travel and Medical Insurance
The products Esicuba offered today have diverse programs of coverage, which are very complete and can accommodate the needs of tourists and foreign residents.
The specific Travel Insurance is activated for short periods of time (up to 90 days) and has smaller limits, being able to face:
- Medical assistance in case of accidents or emergencies
- Outpatient or hospital-related medications
- Repatriations (Sanitary or funeral)
- Advance Funds
- Accident Insurance (includes death and permanent disability)
- Location and management of lost luggage
- Management of documents in cases of theft or loss

On the other hand, Medical Expenses Insurance, hired mostly by diplomatic personnel, students and foreign businessmen with longer stays in the country, is usually valid for one year, with higher limits and a wider range of services, including:
