Especially in Straubing, a family room is available to students and employees. This can be used for staying with children, studying or breastfeeding.
Childcare
Regular childcare makes it easier to return to work or to combine studying and family life. But what childcare options are actually available and when is the right time to take advantage of childcare? In addition to nurseries and other childcare centres, there are also alternative forms of childcare such as childminders or nannies. Here you can find out about the most common types of regular childcare. The "Elternbrief EXTRA" from the Bavarian State Youth Welfare Office (German language) is also an important decision-making aid.

TUM would like to provide as much support as possible in reconciling family or caregiving responsibilities with work or studies. The new company care guides have been trained to provide initial guidance in the "care jungle" as the first point of contact in the context of collegial consultation. In this way, they can provide an initial overview of company and statutory offerings, external points of contact and cooperation partners, and provide relief. The company care guides can thus be the first point of contact when employees or students are faced with a care situation for relatives.
As a trained care guide, Elke Nothaft from the Straubing Student Service is available to you as a TUM member as a contact person (by telephone, in person or by email).
You can also find a list of various support services for family caregivers here. In addition, the TUM Family Service offers an online lecture series on the topic of care and family.
