I only gave it a 3 star bc the updates just make it awful. They took away a ton of good features, so the app is annoying in itself. I just want to say, I've used pintrest (As a fifteen year old) for about a year now. All these people saying pintrest "pushes sexually explicit content on children" have no idea what they are talking about. I have no doubt that it's on there, but you definitely have to look for it to see it. Your child is not a perfect angel, if they said it just "popped up" they definitely searched similar things. If you have a trustworthy kid, 13 is a good age.

Know your child

I use pinterest a lot and i have never seen anything bad or inappropriate. You just have to know your child, they can only see trouble if they are looking for trouble. I don't have Facebook, twitter or any other type of social networking so I think this is a nice alternative for teens who can't get things like facebook

Awesome app for minors

Pinterest is an awesome app for minors as there are not much predatory or explicit content. You can use this app not only for ideas but also for a kid friendly social media app! You first pick out what you would like to see on your fyp and your interests. Yes, sometimes there are swears but you can get by them. Sometimes there is also explicit content (like skimpy clothes) but you have to really search to find that stuff. Overall it's a great app!

It’s positive and a site made for creativity

Pinterest isn’t like other social media apps. It is much less of an inappropriate app compared to many other social sites and apps. Pinterest values creativity and positivity, and is meant to help you share ideas. One of the only reasons I would be worried is that you can’t have a private account. Anyone can follow you. I haven’t heard of anyone having problems, and I haven’t had any myself, but I can’t speak for everyone. It is overall a fun and safe place.

First up for any parent or child wishing to have Pinterest the age limit to get an acc is 13+ so generally even Pinterest is recommending you shouldn't be using the app if you are under 13 years of age. I'm saying 13+ because there can be a lot of swearing in videos on there and in video backing tracks for songs. Nothing to inappropriate for teens but some mature content. There is also a issue with body image I have found a majority of stuff I have found on Pinterest about workouts for an hourglass body or for thin arms etc. There is nothing wrong with doing these workouts or exercises it's just that it promotes a "perfect" body. Don't get me wrong there are many positive sides of Pinterest such as it promotes getting good grades in school and helpful tips with life. I found an account that was very motivational and really helped me through hard times in my life. There are a lot of nice people out there on Pinterest people can be so supportive when your finding stuff tough. So I hope you get this app and use it wisely if your 13+ because it can be absolutely brilliant for you and your life.

this is what I THINK.

idk WHO would not like pinterest and if i had i kid i would let them use it yes there is a dark side but i dont think they would go there the up side to pinterest is that you can find inspo there and a lot of cute pictures to put for your background and some art for inspo to draw and you can even make some pictures of your own.

👍

So I will start off by saying that what a lot of parents don't know is that Pinterest is often used differently for kids/teens/young adults than it is used by most adults. Adults mostly use it to save recipies, in my mom's case ideas to decorate her classroom (she's a teacher), and clothes/outfits. On the other hand, teens use it as more of a social media platform, posting Idea Pins about their life and following strangers they think are cool. So parents, just be aware of how your kids take advantage of the internet. My mom has a rule that she has to follow me on all social media so she can see what I'm doing on it, and I don't think that's a bad idea. Overall I love this app, and I have not encountered anything super inappropriate thus far, only frequent cursing and mild talk of sexual content, but nothing is ever shown or anything so I think it's mostly fine.

Amazing

ik the app/website is rated 13+ but I use it and lots of my friends do too. Pinterest is really fun and the worst thing I've seen is swearing (which ok I use too) and mostly I just use it to save pics of hair ideas, Taylor Swift and cats :D

If you trust your kid it's ok.

You have to be very carful, as the memes can be very bad. Swearing and some nudity and sex goes uncensored in videos and pictures. Some adds are really inappropriate. It depends on what you are looking at.

I use it so much!

I love this app. you know you kid though. if they are mature enough, then let them try it. I love all the features it has. you can put some parent controls, but there is not much. you can make their profile private, so no one can see it, but that is pretty much it. Please let your kids use it eventually. I highly recommend it.
