Unnecessary nudity, boring and hard to follow
As one who studied the book at school I truly don't know how someone who hasn't read the book would be able to follow the plot in this adaptation. It's very rushed, with little to no character development or chemistry. Add to that completely unnecessary nudity and I say don't bother with this version. Watch the one with Romola Garai instead.

Graphic sex and nudity
Common sense media really dropped the ball on this one. There is plenty of gratuitous nudity and graphic sex. Clearly they didn't watch past the first episode, a problem that occurs often on this website.

Rattlin' Good Yarn
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! Given all the bad reviews, I was expecting to get bored but on the contrary there was never a dull moment! It was quite violent however which is something that parents should be bear in mind, although a lot of violence (for example the heart-eating scene) is suggested rather than actually shown. Still, as my father would say, this was a rattlin' good yarn!

Bratty, selfish children show no character development and achieve their dreams
Honestly, I did not see any love or sacrifice in this movie, certainly not from the sisters. What I did see were 2 really bratty, conceited, selfish girls (Pauline and Posy) whose truly awful and self-absorbed behaviour was apparently rewarded with the fulfillment of their dreams. I did not see any character growth whatsoever. In fact, (spoiler) the youngest girl runs off, leaving her family distraught and anxious as to her whereabouts and when she returns makes no apology for her behaviour. Petrova was the only likeable sister from what I saw. Truly not worth showing to your children as it does not have a good or helpful message and the characters are not good role models.

Bad acting, lame plot, overall boring.
Terribly boring, lame plot and poorly acted. In addition, the villain's motivation was pathetic and unconvincing to say the least. I'm not surprised this was a flop at the box office.

Inspirational
Brilliant and inspiring movie, one which I have watched many times. William Wilberforce is one of my heroes and this movie does a very good job of portraying this brave and amazing man.

Hilarious, fun detective comedy
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching all 8 seasons of Psych over the past few weeks - I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! It is relatively clean (no sex scenes or nudity, minimal language) and full of interesting storylines and characters. Well-written and acted and well worth watching.

Don't go by the commonsensemedia review on this one!
I must respectfully disagree with the CommonSenseMedia's review of this book. Saying that CS Lewis' Narnia books do not stand the test of time as well as Tolkien is frankly ridiculous. Both of them write in an old-fashioned style which adds a certain charm, although Tolkien can be a bit long-winded at times. However, in my opinion, the Narnia books AND the LOTR are equally worthy of reading and have equally stood the test of time. They simply have different intended audiences: Narnia is more for children whilst LOTR is more for adults. As a child I adored the Narnia books and would frequently wish that I too could go to Narnia! The magical world, so beautifully written, came alive in my imagination and I was convinced that it was real and I just had to find the right wardrobe to get there! This series is a must read for children and adults alike, particularly those who love fantasy and can appreciate Lewis' gentle humour and charming style.
