Movies target audience is women and mothers.
This movie’s major target audience is middle-aged and older women, especially mothers. Women who played with Barbies. Women who have experienced the transition from innocent, brightly colored childhood through puberty’s world warping change of making our outsides viewed very differently and uncomfortably by strange men and society, when inside we don’t feel we haven’t changed at all. For women (and dads) who might have a daughter of their own on this path. But this is all done with tongue in cheek, absurdist, and brutally honest humor. There is a reason why the shows are selling out and more times need to be added. I will definitely see it again. Because it was funny and it felt really good to be SEEN and know I am not alone in my experiences.
Men with open minds will see they aren’t being attacked but have been lucky to not experience this and might feel empathy for the women they care about, having experienced this in their lives. Men certainly have their own contradictions to content with and I would love a movie to help start this conversation for them!
I want to show this to my kids (10,12) but not until they are ready to understand. Plus they haven’t played with Barbie’s so a lot of the jokes will just fly over their heads. Like my ‘weird’ punk Barbie’s head used to fly right off when I’d whip her really hard.
I think I’ll bring my daughter when she is about 12 or 13. My son, I think the same age. But with his mom, not his friends. I want him to be present with empathy and compassion.

No meaningful parent controls, easily access erotica
Like many others say on here there is no way to limit content. My preteen is getting access to erotica. Could likely get access to anything else not age appropriate: violence, torture, abuse, etc. Disappointing.

They are loving it!
I remember loving this movie. But I was surprised how much my kids (11, 13) really love this movie. Yeah there’s some bad words, but they’re not really that bad. And there’s no real violence except tackling, which even kids do. I think of all the movies out there this is certainly one of the better ones for kids this age it’s exciting. It’s riveting and it has a good message, people shouldn’t be exploited for profit.
