Had high hopes...then bigotry.
While I understand the writer was playing on his own experiences growing up in the church and the unique judgmental behavior he encountered, he's used this mini-series to try to push onto everyone else how hateful and judgemental the church can be. In any organization there can be bad actors that give a group a bad name. It's just disappointing to see yet another Hollywood production that goes out of its way to demonize any pious or zealous person. The main antagonist in this show is constantly trying to enforce her way and beliefs on everyone else. Anyone who goes along with her is portrayed as some kind of weak-willed buffoon who can't think for themselves. If you're a person of any kind of faith steer clear of this show. It will ridicule your belief systems without basis and make you out to be a mindless follower of religion. Then to pour fuel on the fire, the writer took what was developing into a mysterious plot conflict and revealed it to be something more cliche. Walk away from this if you're hoping to be genuinely scared or if you have any strong sense of faith in a higher power (not just Christianity).

Not sure how it got a CSM Family approved stamp.
With words like p---y and a--hat I'm not sure how this gets a CSM "Great for families" stamp of approval. Maybe some families don't believe in modesty or clean language, but I would certainly not give a movie like this a "GFF" stamp with such language. Certainly not for a 12 year old. It's a slippery slope to say "what is in movies now is more acceptable than in the past." By the time the current 12 year olds have kids should we expect a "GFF" stamp on a movie containing topless women and sexual harassment from men? I would argue that CSM's family stamp isn't worth the pixels its painted with. It's a PG-13 movie. Why would CSM rate it 12+?

Should be rated R not PG-13
Movie should be rated R for being riddled with obscene humor and more innuendos than can be counted. The childish toilet humor aims for the intellectual bottom of the comedy barrel. It's shocking that the MPAA rated this PG-13.
