No real plot! Don't bother ...
Shallow. No real plot. Didn't care about the characters. Just abit of a pointless film!

Must-see family watching
This is one of the best documentaries we've ever seen for kids! The highlight is a beautiful example of selfless, 'other'-centered friendship that withstands the stress of two boys trying become the best Rubiks Cubers in the world. A must-see for every family.

Quirky but insightful
This was really quite funny! It had an unusual plot and gave a quirky insight into modern American culture. If you like something abit different and you don't mind political incorrectness, this film is for you!

Disappointing
What a sad era we live in when a good story - perhaps one of the best - cannot be simply told. Supposedly to keep our kids interested, we have to hype everything up, twist the plot, change the characters and make it so graphic that it terrifies young children! I was so disappointed with this film. While it kept a very small amount of the book plot, almost everything else was sabotaged. It was almost attempting to be a 'Lord of the Rings' or 'Narnia' take-off but it failed miserably. Sadly much of the theology was watered down. Don't bother watching this - especially if you've read the book!

Thought-provoking story for older teens and up
This was quite an interesting story based on real-life events. While it is mild in many ways, the film is subtly powerful in conveying the disastrous consequences of what is essentially a foolish mistake. Although there is no real violence in it, the psychological unravelling of the main character's mind is quite disturbing as we watch him grapple with the choices he has made. It is a thought-provoking, slow moving story which won't appeal to the average teenager unless they are used to watching serious films. But it is a useful springboard for discussing wisdom, personal responsibility and the need to face up to - rather than run away from - mistakes that we make in life.

Try something else
This film feels more like a doco-drama of French gastronomy than an actual movie. The plot is listless and unexciting, the characters are not particularly endearing and the ending is left up to your imagination. Don't bother!

Should be rated M in Australia
While this movie had a good plot, it should be rated much higher than PG due to the frequency of adult themes. Almost all the adults are exploitative and child abuse is only thinly veiled.

Worst kids movie ever!
This was one of the worst kids movies we've ever seen! Not only did it have a sub-standard plot, the dubbing was appalling, making it almost unwatchable.

Strong sense of threat
Good film in many ways but a strong sense of threat throughout means would suit older teens. See the kids ratings on this - they themselves suggest for much older viewers! It's a shame there are virtually no positive male characters which makes the movie abit one-sided.

Charming Australian classic doesn't quite live up to the book
If you've read the novel, 'The Silver Brumby' (Elaine Mitchell), or love horses, you will quite enjoy this film. If you love amazing scenery you will also appreciate the beautiful and rugged Australian High Country setting. On the negative side, the plot develops a bit slowly and the soundtrack might be a little 'eerie' for younger viewers. The book is well worth reading!
