Amazing!
While I personally found this movie both amazing and inspiring, I think that kids aged 11+ would developmentally get the most out of this film. It is so great to have some amazing role models to aspire to!

Need to know your history
This movie is a historical drama where I think it is important to review your history before watching. I actually pulled out a history text while watching to try to figure out who was who and what was going on. Watching it with a 12 yr old history buff who has yet to study this time in any real depth was a real challenge to follow story and it prompted a ton of questions. Wish we had reviewed the history and maybe have had just read a Lincoln biography prior to watching.

Middle School Angst with humor
I think this movie captures the difficulties of middle school in a fun, comical way as it tackles some very real complex issues that many "wimpy" kids find incredibly challenging.

Great theatrical movie!
I think this is a great movie to introduce kids to Jane Austen. A bit of humor, heartache, drama, and love. Love the cast, the setting, and the music.

Dark, mysterious, and not for young kids or anxious viewers
I previewed this classic before allowing my 11 yr old son to watch it. After watching the first 15min, I decided that this film is best left for a teen audience. The dark themes -enhanced by the music and narration, are way too dark for any age under 15. Also, while the filming and puppetry were cutting edge when it was made, the aged process adds to the darkness and strangeness of this film.
