I think that there are definitely some major issues with this movie. The period and pad stuff can be overlooked to some degree as it is not as horrible as the message the movie gives. Basically Mei Lee literally learns nothing the whole time besides disobedience is somehow good. This movie seems to want to teach children to not have natural family values. I understand the importance of self respect and not expecting perfection but Encanto does a way better job at this. I’m honestly disappointed with Pixar. I will not be watching this movie again nor do I recommend other parents watch this with kids.

I’m normally pretty lenient on most tv but this was just downright evil. They made the man get pregnant, sweet little Toby dies, and they basically erase the whole Trollhunters timeline. All the hardship that everyone had to face all those sacrifices for basically nothing. No real moral present besides maybe… errr… feel bad cause your not cool? Then the repetitive “the power was inside me the whooolllle time” plot which I’ve seen a million times. Including, the new modern moral of the story “men can get pregnant too” which makes no sense… hello biology? Also they changed the words of the amulet from “to the honor of Merlin” to “for the good of all” to be more “inclusive” I guess. The movie has no point to it and doesn’t sit well with me I actually feel sick after watching it because it was so awful. Please someone get one of those mind erase things from a Sci-Fi tv series, I need one.

I beg you do not waste your time with this series because it is quite literally a waste of time. The first book was really great and overall the whole series keeps readers on the edge of their seat. But it is severely lacking in answers to the questions it presents and also deals with topics best left to parents. I put this down at book 4 because I could not take the poorly constructed sentences, ideas, or jokes any further. I also advise parents be warned there are some very inappropriate jokes in this series for young readers. This series went from an amazing story to more of a hastily written book to fulfill a contract. From what I have read and other fans have confirmed it also does not provide much satisfaction in regards to answers. Many readers have finished left wondering what the book was supposed to have meant. This book is overall a poor contribution to the world of Children’s Literature. Perhaps one day Messenger will return and rewrite her story until then I will have no more to do with Keeper of the Lost Cities.
