It's a standard sports shonen anime with positive themes for younger audiences that include determination, hard work, having courage, friendship, and teamwork. There's some fantasy violence (fighting, bike crashes, blood) and occasional language ("damn," "hell," and "bastard").

What's the Story?
YOWAMUSHI PEDAL is an anime series about Sakamichi Onoda (voiced by Daiki Yamashita) a shy and timid teen student with a hidden talent for cycling. While trying to restart the anime club at his school Sakamichi is discovered by Shunsuke (Kôsuke Toriumi), a serious and competitive cyclist who recognizes Sakamichi's hidden potential for cycling. Through this fateful meeting Sakamichi decides to join the Sohoku High Bicycle Club, where he's thrown headfirst into the competitive world of cycling.
This sports-themed anime about bicycle racing is a fun, fast, action-packed adventure with many positive lessons. Yowamushi Pedal is your standard sports shonen anime, centered around a group of young men who bet everything on their bicycles. Characters fill specialized roles in races and have unique abilities and perspectives that make them interesting. One character might have to dig deep during an uphill portion of a race using their unique style of pedaling to help bring the entire team to victory. There's a heavy focus on camaraderie, believing in your teammates, and supporting them no matter what. Fans of sports shonen anime won't find much new here, but the unique choice of sport, great visuals, and excellent inspirational execution make this positive and fun anime worthy of your time.
