What's the Story?
When Inspector Gamache (Alfred Molina) arrives in THREE PINES to investigate a seemingly accidental death, he finds a tightly knit community who are extremely hostile toward outsiders. The more he learns, the more he finds himself in a surprising amount of danger.
Is It Any Good?
This show is a murder mystery for murder mystery fans -- it's so dedicated to the inner workings of the plot's machine that it tends to neglect the need to entertain along the way. Three Pines' charms are subtle, starting with the snowy landscape, and including the idiosyncrasies of the small town and its relationship with the nearby Indigenous community. But this is a series looking for viewers who are interested in solving the crime alongside Inspector Gamache; casual viewers might just end up grinding their gears.

Who's the main detective? How does he approach the investigation? What unique skills does he bring to the job? Does he remind you of other TV detectives? Why or why not?
What role do Indigenous people play in the story? How is the relationship between them and the police depicted? How does this relationship evolve over the course of the series?
