What's the Story?

THIRST WITH SHAY MITCHELL is an unscripted travel series that explores countries through their local beverages. Host Shay Mitchell travels to South America and visits new cities and local wonders, then spends time at each destination checking out the area's customary liquid refreshments. With the help of local tour guides, brewers, mixologists, and artisans, she learns a little bit about each drink's social and cultural importance. She also gets to try some of them too.

The unscripted series combines the love of drink with the fun that comes with traveling to foreign destinations. As Shay Mitchell, who owns her own tequila brand, enjoys all the sights and sounds of countries like Peru and Colombia, she talks to locals about the ingredients in, and the preparation of, traditional or popular teas and libations consumed in the area. How specific drinks pair with area cuisines, or the traditional customs and rituals they are associated with, are also addressed.

Mitchell sometimes seems skittish about experiencing new things. Expect occasional boozing, which one can argue isn't unexpected given Thirst with Shay Mitchell's focus. Nonetheless, it's an interesting context through which to see the world.
