While the Mayhem can be rowdy and lazy, they also are serious about music and always give each other credit when working as a team.
Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that The Muppets Mayhem is a comedy series about the Muppets' iconic rock band, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, and their new manager, Nora (Lilly Singh). It's family-friendly fun with lots of music and guest stars including Lil Nas X, Danny Trejo, and Tommy Lee. There's some mild peril -- like when the Mayhem's van hangs off a cliff -- and language, while mostly mild, has some insults like "imbecile." Characters drink alcohol out of red cups at a party, and one of the band members has a mai tai.
This is a fun show that captures all the magic of the original. Well worth a watch for families looking for quality television that everyone can enjoy. Classic and current toe tapping music abounds and the story is enjoyable with cleaver writing and production. Each episode has lol moments and the engaging storytelling centered on characters as fun to root for as they are absurd and adorable. Huggable, laughable, lovable Muppets at their best! Highly recommend!
What's the Story?
Music lover Nora (Lilly Singh) is a floundering assistant at a dying record label. But when she discovers that the legendary, long-touring band the Electric Mayhem owes her boss a record, she hatches a scheme -- get the group into the studio for the first time ever. But it's not that easy; the Mayhem, while beloved, don't have the world's best work ethic. And with the villainous exec JJ (Anders Holm) threatening to buy the label, time is of the essence. Are the Mayhem simply too chaotic to be a success, or will they come through with a miracle?
Muppet musicians Dr. Teeth, Floyd, Janice, and, of course, Animal finally get their due in this lively, quirky satire of the music biz. The rowdy band of wild personalities takes center stage in The Muppets Mayhem, and it's a delight to behold. The band members each get their share of gags; notable moments include Animal's attempt to go straight and get a real job, and the band accidentally painting Danny Trejo's house in their colorful hippie fashion. No Muppet outing is complete without a gaggle of guest stars, and here we get to see musicians Steve Aoki, Zedd, Lil Nas X, and even Billy Corgan, just to name a few. Set in LA, there are lots of nods to local legends and locales. There's even some pathos, too -- Dr. Teeth and the gang's rendition of Joe Cocker's "Have a Little Faith in Me" just might bring a tear to your eye.
