The BeatBuds: Let's Jam!
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
Building on their birthday party success with Hollywood A-Lister's kids, the guys behind THE BEATBUDS: LET'S JAM! have brought their musical follies to the small screen. Matty Shapiro and Jonny Jonah -- real-life musicians behind the series -- play Matty and Jonny, the drumming and guitar-playing leads. They drive a van that has buttons for loads of gadgets, they look for new friends to jam with, they play music. As they meet new buds, they take them in their van to the next gig. Songs are sung, friends are made, then they're off to their next destination.
Is It Any Good?
Though BeatBuds fans might enjoy this show, there's not much else on offer besides the promise of a musical number. The BeatBuds: Let's Jam! is colorful, jumpy, and pretty fun, but it misses an opportunity to develop interesting characters and meaningful themes. The attempts to add educational content or develop social engagement are second-rate. Little ones might be excited to see monkeys playing instruments, and the van itself is pretty cool. But adults will find the music kind of meh and might wish that there was more to the show.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Parents can talk about spending time on devices rather than interacting with people like a character does in The BeatBuds: Let's Jam! What are appropriate habits for device use?
Music and jamming with friends are what the BeatBuds like to do the most. What do you think their character strengths are? What do you thing your character strengths are?
The guys have a cool van and musical instruments to play with people they meet. What kind of hobbies do you have outside of your favorite video games and shows?
