Depends on the kid

Really, it depends on the kid. If your 9 year old is nature enough, go ahead! That's when my brother watched this show. If your 13 year old isnt mature enough, dont put it on. Not very sexual.

My Two-cents-worth as a young Christian

Let me just start off by saying Stranger Things is such an amazing series. I love the story, and I love the characters. The storytelling in this show is phenomenal. That being said I believe this show is for a more mature audience. As a Christian, I think this show is a bit controversial because of its themes, sometimes death is inevitable in a show or a movie, it's life after all. However, there is a lot of gore in Season 4, more than I would like there to be. This is really the only turn off I can see for not watching it. The other seasons are amazing and showcase a little bit of gore compared to what we have here in Season four. There is a lot of swearing so just watch out for that. Many people believe that this show is Demonic, but if you look at it closely you'll understand it really isn't. There are a few scenes in season 4 with them being lifted up into the sky and their bones breaking and bending in unnatural ways. Stranger things has never had any spiritistic stuff in it (no demons, ghosts, evil spirits, etc.). All of it is based off of mystery, that is true. However it has a sci-fi rating for a reason, if it wanted to convey a more spiritistic, or demonic presence it would've landed the "fantasy" genre instead of Sci-fi. I feel like the mysterious vibe from it may bring off "unsettling vibes" but that is just, well the mystery aspect of it. Many people are scared of the unknown, so they tend to jump to conclusions about something before getting to fully understand it better. Similarly with Stranger Things, I believe it is a great show, but I believe children need to have a glimpse of maturity before even thinking about watching this show. It has suggestive themes in it and it may not be everyone's cup of tea. As for sex, there are only two scenes that have implied the characters having sex in Season1 and in Season 2, so there really is not a lot of Immorality (For those Christian parents out there wondering). As for drugs or smoking, season 1 Joyce buys a lot of cigarettes, but we only have a handful of scenes of her actually using them (not justifying it but she is a mother under a lot of stress). In season 4 there are brief mentions (Like 2 or 3) of either drug users or the drug itself. When it comes to drinking, there is only one scene in Season 1 where the teenager characters pop open a few beers, other than that there really is no drinking. In conclusion, I believe this show has it's issues (not one single show in this world is perfect), However It has beautiful story telling and an awesome plot that keeps you guessing, and makes your heart pounding, wondering for more answers about the never ending questions given. The characters are unique and amazing, and I believe it conveys a really good message about family and friendship, as well as "turning a new leaf" for a few characters. As a Christian, I believe this show can be viewed in moderation with maybe a few additives to make it more "friendly" to people. You can skip some of the scarier scenes (most of them don't reveal a lot about the plot). Try skipping some of the more gorier or suggestive scenes (again most don't reveal a lot about what is happening) to avoid feeling that "evil vibe". Lastly, just understand that just because a show may convey something, try not to jump to conclusions; If you're really bothered by it I would say wait a bit and ask friends/family members who have seen it to give you a better understanding, and Always look at the genre of a series before getting into it, otherwise you may be disappointed by the outcome of it. Stranger things is marked as a Sci-fi; Horror show. So it will have those elements in it. Something can be "horror" and scary but not be demonic. and Vice Versa. Last extra thing I kind of wanted to say is that there is something cool about this show. Not just talking about the 80's aesthetic, I mean how it brings people together, I've watched these kids (not-so-kids anymore) grow up on the screen. and It's amazing to feel somewhat apart of that.

TOTALLY TUBULAR SHOW (WARNING : SPOILERS! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK)

This show was amazing from episode 1. I was 9 when I started watching it, and I did get jumpscares, but overall, I just wanted to spam next episode. It is "scary", because there are other worldly creatures that are definitely not friendly, but overall it's a great show. It's also, if you get to season 3, it has fashion to die for! It did have a lot of gore, but it honestly depends on the person. There are grown adults that would be terrified by this show, and vice versa, kids that are very gorey and would be reasonably obsessed. There was a little bit of making out, but it didn't have much, and absolutely no nudity. One of the characters has a drinking issue, but has also gone through his fair share of trauma. He's also old enough too! Also, in my opinion, you can't shield a child from drinking and smoking. Most kids my age have known about sex and drugs since we were little. I actually make fun of the rating and in the beginning of each episode, I normally see the rating and go, "Oh NoOoOo dRiNkInG aNd SwEaRiNg, SoOoOo ScArY!" but I also think it is good to warn and say, "hey, there will be gorey stuff in here" because there is. A lot of shows have violence and sex so much these days, that it's hard to find a show without even a little bit of it. I think it should be 9-10 and up, but as I said earlier, it depends on the person. The characters have such an amazing bond with each other it warms your heart. Also, I'm definitely a nerd and I appreciate the use of Dungeons & Dragons, GhostBusters, and all the others. I love how in season 2 Dustin and Lucas both agreed (which is rare) that Dungeons & Dragons was like a kind of handbook or manual or something like that to deal with and know about the otherworldly beings. Also, I had to watch this with my mom, because she's just as obsessed as I am about this show as I am, that she would talk to me about all of the 'high-tech' stuff from the 80's and the music and history, which was great. I understand if you would want to watch something like this with your kid, and it's sometimes great because you can teach them about when you grew up, just do not keep them from this gift to the universe! Also, sometimes when the 'sex scenes' come on, it's sometimes uncomfortable to be watching it with your parents. It just feels plain weird. Also, if you're stubborn and set in your ways, at least talk to them about it, don't act like it didn't happen, and don't be like "see I told you it would have 'sex scenes'"!. Over all though it is an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SHOW SO WATCH IT!

Season 4 takes it up a notch

Personally, I love the show. I thought that season 1 was fascinating and full of so much mystery, and was pleasantly surprised to see that the directors kept this intriguing plot line going in seasons 2, 3 and 4. Although it was a great show, each season gets more intense. You may watch the show and think the first season couldn’t get any better, and then the next season is filled with even more suspense and intensity. The main thing to keep in mind is that the show progressively gets more gory and dark, especially ramping it up in the 4th season. The fourth season in my eyes could be considered horror, but I personally am not complaining! Other than violence, the characters do swear a lot, but sex, drinking and drugs are not as present.

Depends on the person read whole review pls. Really good show!!!!

This is the best. My friend watched the first episode with me and I wasn't interested, however I decided to just watch it and now I am OBSESSED. The story is sci fi horror and its so good. The first season in my opinion would be 11+ for scariness and stuff, the second season the same, 3rd season also BUT the 4th season turns into real horror and i would place it at 12 ir 13+ but it really depens on the person. The first season has some s*x but i just skipped it. The second season has a lot of blood but it isnt very scary in terms of gore. The 3rd is the same as the second, blood but not really like scary. The 4th season has peoples limbs getting cracked and their bodies being put in not normal positions. It is disturbing. I just closed my eyes because I love horror but some things I want to go through life without seeing lol. WARNING: there are some swears but the f word is used once in the 3rd season which I had just realized after rewatching the show. This is an amazing show you will never get tired of. I would say it definitely depends on the person for the show. Overall with movies and tv shows I dont believe that age matters. It matters if you can handle it. Like if you're 10 but you dont get scared easily you could watch it but if you're 14 but get scared easily you may want to wait to see season 4.

Season 4 age rating (OPINION)

I really did love season 4. Some things to keep i. mind though is that in the first episode, there is a girl shown puking because of her eating disorder, Bulimia. There is also a drug deal being made. At the end of the episode (⚠️SPOILER⚠️) She sees very graphic images and a monster. The monster lifts her up to the ceiling and breaks all her bone. Ending with her neck and jaw. After that he eyes squish into her brain. If you are very mature it will be a great show!

Great Show

This show was great! Season 1 was a great intro, and not very violent. Season 2 stepped up their game, and was a lot more violent. I wasn’t even sure that season 3 could top it. But, it did. Season 3 is not for the faint of heart. Watch at your own risk. Also, Netflix just changed the rating to TV-MA, so Season 4 will be very violent.

Details on the horror-filled scenes :)

Hi :) Personally, I loved this show. The plotline and character developments are just amazing, and I was unable to pull myself away from this show, which was both a blessing and a curse. I was hugely disturbed by season 4, what with the extremely grotesque and horrific deaths that are caused by the main villain. In this review, I'll be focusing ONLY on the horror factor of this show. Before you continue, I have to say, between seasons 1 and 3, there is a moment where a child causes adults bleed from their eyes with strange, unknown powers, and then proceeds to kill them. I can't remember which season it is, so I'm putting it here. Season 1 (12+) Season 1 is honestly fine (horror wise). There are a few jumpscares and some parts are slightly psychologically disturbing for me. There is a slimy, disfigured corpse, but it is mostly hidden with some sort of substance I can't remember. But overall, it wasn't bad at all. !-SPOILER ALERT-! This season includes a boney, massive, fleshy creature called the Demogorgon. It does not have a face; rather, it has a round head that opens into a teethed, circular throat. A character gets sucked into the Upside-Down, which is an evil, hellish dimension filled with horrifying creatures, a strange, eerie aura, and multiple grotesque corpses. The characters mother tries to communicate with him with flashing lights, and writes the alphabet in massive, drippy, black letters on her wall. This disturbed me slightly, but nothing horrible. Season 2 (13+) Season 2 also wasn't horrible. It definitely kicked things up a notch, however, and there were a few moments that made my stomach turn. I don't remember much, but I do remember a child becoming possessed and tortured. The actor for this child screams and is terrifyingly realistic with the possessions and torturing. !-SPOILER ALERT-! The same child that was sucked into the Upside-Down is dragged into the place every once in a while, where he is haunted with terrifying visions. He is possessed by a massive, horrifying shadow monster, and the actor for the child is disturbingly realistic. The same child is also tortured. Another character is abused by her older brother, who also gets possessed in either this season or the next. I can't quite recall it. The character's name is Billy, if you'd like to do more reasearch, but I don't see a huge need. Season 3 (13+) Season 3 was definitely worse for me. It included much more of the possessions, and I believe all of the monsters from the previous seasons return in this one. The worst part of this season was the fact that there are exploding creatures and mentally disturbed/insane people. This one was a big jump, but a mature 13-year-old could definitely handle it (in my opinion). !-SPOILER ALERT-! Both rats and humans spontaneously explode into a strange, slimy substance, resulting in gory and disturbing images of exploded human beings. An old lady goes clinically insane and begins eating fertilizer- as I recall, she is one of the exploded human beings. Disturbing images of a mother/child being tortured are shown. A main character smiles at the sight of his significant other, and then is tackled and devoured by baby Demogorgons ('demodogs'). More jumpscares, violence, and I'm sure there are many other slightly disturbing scenes that I cannot recall. Season 4 (15+) Now, listen to me very closely. The previous seasons are child's play compared to this season. I barely even remember Season 3, because the last season so far has stuck to me like horrifying glue. CHILDREN are murdered horribly, with sickening, disturbing images of limbs, necks, fingers, and jaws being snapped in extremely disfigured places. Their eyes then proceed to explode with blood. In the very first episode, this type of killing is exhibited, and this is definitely the worst of all of them. Bloody fist fights, especially chilling last words, and many other disturbing images are displayed throughout the season. A character who gouged out his eyes is seen, but his eyes are sewn shut. BEWARE. More details on the killing (if you want): Characters eyes roll into the back of their heads, and their minds are taken to the Upside-Down, where a humanoid villain chases them, pins them to the wall, and lifts his hand over their faces. In the real world, their bodies are lifted into the air. Their arms and legs are snapped in extremely disfigured positions that are disturbing and sickening in and of themselves. After this, their necks and jaws are sometimes snapped, but not always. Their eyes, which have begun bleeding by this point, then proceed to squeeze shut and then explode into their heads. Their disfigured, horrific bodies then drop to the floor. This happens to 4 or 5 teenagers, and also 1 child (I think). !-SPOILER ALERT-! At the end of the very first episode, a character, who was buying drugs, is the victim of one of these killings, and hers is the most horrific and brutal, along with the most visually disturbing. The main standout for me is the fact that her jaw is snapped sideways, which causes her to have a sickening look on her face as her eyes explode. This basically traumatized me for a few days (lol). One of the main characters, who is a fan favorite, is the victim of one of these killings in the very last episode, but the villain is killed just as he is about to finish her off. By now, her eyes have bled so much that she is visibly and sickeningly blind, and four streaks of blood stain below each of her eyes. Her legs and arms are all disfigured, and her main love interest is sobbing with her head on his lap. Her last words are especially chilling. She shouts frantically, "I can't see, or- or feel anything!!! I'm scared!" Hyperventilating, she dies, while actively exclaiming, "I don't wanna die! I'm not ready to die!" At this point, I had goosebumps and felt like I wanted to throw up. Actively sobbing, I had to take a breather before I finished the episode. It was horrible. In other scenes, characters are tortured and beaten, and characters get trapped in their minds with horrifying creatures and the main villain. A distorted clock sound is a focal point of this season, and is heard before each killing and oftentimes throughout the season. Overall, this show is amazing. With hauntingly realistic acting and an engulfing plotline, I couldn't drag myself away. It's funny at many points, and the character development is just- *chef's kiss*. I would definitely watch this over and over again if it weren't for the grotesque killings and disturbing scenes in Season 4. Despite all this, I definitely recommend this show for an older audience.

The Best Show I Have Ever Seen

Ight, so this is the best show I have ever watched. You will be addicted from start to finish and by the end, you would give anything to be able to go back and watch it for the first time. That being said, there’s some content to look out for. Some of the violence is pretty extreme. The violence pushes the TV-14 rating to its limits in the 3rd and 4th season, but it’s probably going to keep that rating since it’s technically “sci-fi” violence. An example in the 4th season is you see many victims get all of their limbs extremely graphically and brutally snapped in all sorts of ways that they shouldn’t be able to go. After that, their jaw snaps and their eyes explode in blood and get sucked away from the inside of their bodies. This is all done by a surreal being in a parallel, clock-filled, lucid universe. After the deed is done, the contorted body falls lifeless on the ground. These scenes are quite disturbing and I personally feel this show, at least the 4th season (maybe the 3rd, IDK), should be TV-MA. Though it sounds rough, I feel 13+ would be able to handle the tough scenes and even if they can’t, it’s pretty easy to look away at those scenes. Parents, you should definitely let your kids watch this show but know there is a bit of violence and language and I would suggest watching it with them for the 3rd and 4th season if you want to make sure what they’re watching is appropriate. PS there is a little sex early on in the show but nothing graphic

Scary but amazing supernatural series!!

Gory but brilliant tv show. Frequent swearing so not for young kids but love the storyline. It follows 4 young boys in a fictional town (Hawkins, Indiana) who have an unusual encounter with an unknown evil. Season 1 is tamer than the other ones because the villain gets more involved especially in season 4. Season 5 comes out soon, looking forward to it! Love the cast and acting.
