What's the Story?
From the creator of Teletubbies comes MOON AND ME, an animated British story time series about a group of toys who come alive when the moon comes up. Pepi Nana is a doll who lives in a big doll house, along with Mr. Onion, Sleepy Dibillo, Colly Wobble, and their flowers and pets. But when everyone goes to bed, and the moon shines bright, Pepi Nana wakes up and invites Moon Baby to come down and visit. Pepi Nana only verbalizes using the words "tiddle toddle," while a British female narrator translates her ideas into English. Once all their friends are awake, they play, sing, and take tea together.
Is It Any Good?
This charming, gentle series offers preschoolers the chance to learn concepts while relating to the young characters, most of whom only speak a few words. The mellow tales which are offered as bedtime stories, are simple to follow, and highlight simple, activities (like dancing, flying in an airplane, and of course, the moon) that children can incorporate into their own imaginative play.
The show's unhurried pace makes the roughly 18-minute episodes feel a bit long at times, but they do include songs, including some sung by crooner Michael Bublé, that break it up a bit. Parents and older kids might tire quickly of the repeated "tiddle toddle", and also may find some of the characters a little creepy, especially the wide-eyed Moon Baby. However, Moon and Me creates a sweet fantasy world that appeals to the very young.
