Sweet friends and familar situations (and more, for all ages)!

This is a rare offering that "gets" children and what they really need. This is a wholesome and nurturing work of art. Dick Bruna's sensibility is wonderfully preserved in this lovely "claymation," with it's visual field that is respectful of the development of the eye, mind, and soul of a child. It blesses the viewer with, at turns, a gentle, snappy, soothing, funny, wistful, upbeat, etc.... soundtrack, which clearly conveys with delight the underlying subject matter, we are treated to classically vivid storytelling, and darling characters who have verve and brio! More Miffy, PLEASE :-)

What's the Story?

In MIFFY'S ADVENTURES BIG AND SMALL, a sweet little bunny named Miffy joins her best friends Grunty and Melanie in adventures of their own making around their neighborhood. From keeping busy on a rain day to battling the nerves on a first camping experience, Miffy and her friends always learn something while they're having fun.

The darling star of children's books delights in this simple, narrated series that's just right for the preschool crowd. Miffy and her friends are enthralled by the same kinds of experiences young viewers would be: watching a plant grow, splashing in puddles, trying a new food, and so on. They encourage each other and have fun together, all while reminding kids how worthwhile it can be to embark on adventures of any size.

With friendship as a recurring theme and constant reminders of the value of being curious about the world, Miffy's Adventures Big and Small is an excellent series for preschoolers. Need more reason to like it? The episodes run about eight minutes in length, so there's no concern over excess screen time with this one in the watch cue.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about trying new things. Are your kids generally adventurous, or do they shy away from new experiences? How does having friends alongside them make trying new things easier?

  • What role do grown-ups play on this show? In real life, what kinds of new experiences should you try or not try without your parent's knowledge?

  • Kids: Have you seen the Miffy books? Do you enjoy reading (or being read to)? How do books inspire the imagination in ways TV shows can't?
