What's the Story?
MATILDA AND THE RAMSAY BUNCH centers on Matilda "Tilly" Ramsay, the youngest daughter of Gordon Ramsay, whose passion for cooking rivals her father's. The series follows Matilda and the rest of her family -- parents Gordon and Tana, and siblings Megan, Jack, and Holly -- at home and during their travels. In each episode, Matilda prepares a meal inspired by the family's agenda for the day, creating new recipes and adding her own flair to traditional ones, all of which she shares on her food blog.
Is It Any Good?
Tilly's bubbly personality rivals her enthusiasm for sharing her cooking prowess with others as this show's most memorable trait. Her recipes are simple enough for tweens and teens to tackle alone -- or younger kids to replicate with some parental oversight -- and she encourages viewers to think creatively about ingredients and presentation as well. When she's not in the kitchen, The Ramsay Bunch shows Tilly engaged with her family members who share an obviously strong bond.
What's pleasantly surprising about this show is the notable absence of Tilly's uber-famous dad while she's doing her thing in the kitchen. Gordon pops in now and then to stir up trouble by teasing her or playfully critiquing her work, but he's more a spectator than a participant in his daughter's endeavors and always applauds the end result. In other words, he plays the role of a proud (and sometimes irksome) dad rather than the food critic fans are used to from him, and it's a refreshingly "normal" glimpse into the life of an international celebrity and his family.
