The series is a spin-off of the telenovela Floricienta, which had over 200 licensed products. Some characters are driven by money and financial ambition. They sing, "I dream of riches, abundant treasures . . . it'll never be enough for me." Prince Merlin goes to school at University New Elite.

Make your story count. Getting sad doesn't solve anything. Truth stands the test of time. Things always turn around. Life gives us more chances. Dreams must be pursued. Don't run away from your emotions but learn from them. We can all be beautiful in our imperfections. It's not OK to harass anyone. We are all teachers and learners.
Positive Role Models
some
Margarita is kind and observant, an unwavering optimistic and unafraid to stand up for herself and her friends. She breaks rules and runs away from the orphanage to follow her dreams. Some characters lie about who they are. The villain, Delfina, deals with moral struggles and has a difficult relationship with her mother (includes insults and blackmail). There are bullies at the school who target a kid on the autism spectrum, and there are wide repercussions.
Diverse Representations
a little
Main characters are White. A non-binary character is celebrated, but another character on the autism spectrum is bullied. There's an intense scene where a bully makes this character eat an orange candy, but others step in. Male characters express their feelings openly. The show has limited ethnic diversity and most actors have perfect bodies. The dating scene follows traditional stereotypes.
Parents need to know that Margarita is a delightful teen soap with classic fairytale elements. It is a spin-off of the popular Argentinian show Floricienta, and follows the story of Margarita, the daughter of Flor and Conde. Like her mom, she's an unwavering optimist and loves singing and dancing. She's a great role model, even if she sometimes makes mistakes. The series explores themes such as parental separation, hidden identities, friendship, romance, and bullying, maintaining a light and positive tone with messages about perseverance, compassion, and making the most of life. The romantic elements are age-appropriate but somewhat stereotypical, with Margarita involved in a love triangle with a prince and her best friend. While the show includes some diversity, with non-binary and autistic characters, the majority of actors are White with idealized body types. There are some uncomfortable scenes featuring bullying toward a teen on the autism spectrum, which spark conversations about stopping harassment and encouraging empathy. Expect to hear mild language like "idiot" and "stupid" and some made up words like "Flikiti" — a nod to the original series. Other nostalgic elements include familiar faces (Delfina, Malala) and revisited songs like "Por Qué" and "Mi Vestido Azul." But if you haven't seen the original, don't worry! There's enough backstory to catch you up and 40 new songs to win you over.

This modern fairytale is colorful and optimistic, with just the right mix of fantasy and romance to capture tweens' hearts. Margarita is a melodrama and doesn't try to hide it. In fact, it embraces the genre with theatrical performances, staged musical clips and a "sad sequence" that's as funny as it is miserable. If we hold true Margarita's belief that "the more ingredients a story has, the better it is," the show delivers on all fronts: romance, music, suspense, mystery, and a touch of magic. Though it doesn't take itself too seriously, Margarita respects its audience by blending in enough nostalgic elements for longtime fans with an original story that keeps new viewers intrigued. Despite the lack of diversity and the abundance of mean characters, Margarita is a fun entertainment for the whole family: nostalgic fans of Floricienta, teens who will enjoy the romance, and kids who will find joy in Margarita's positive spirit.
