Funny but not for young kids

There’s a lot of sexual content - some teenage level, some more adult. Lots of gender messages that aren’t necessarily appropriate for kids who don’t get sarcasm and irony.

It's not for little kid

When watching this series, there were many jump scares or even just scares that I think a younger child couldn't handle. Maybe 9 or 10 year old would enjoy this show, but having someone younger might give them some nightmares, especially the last three episodes. Weirdmegeddon, these three episodes have many creepy parts and is definitely not for a younger kid but maybe for a ten year old.

Perfect for middle ed kids and beyond

My very sensitive 8 year old had zero issues with it, and I didn't see anything inappropriate in the series, so I think it would be more than fine for 7 years olds and likely most 6 year olds. Though some content would likely be above their heads. The actual show is excellent, well written, engaging, and full of interesting and balanced characters that kids will likely be able to relate to. Mabel is an especially great example of this, with a range of interests from boys to her pet pig to adventuring. It's also a great family show as I think many adults would enjoy this series as much as their kids.

Best Cartoon of this Generation

Gravity Falls is really quality TV. I reluctantly let my 6 year old view it. Some things go over his head but generally I think it was fine for him to see it. He really loved it and we were able to enjoy something as a whole family - which I prefer to him watching TV on his own.

Great show, positive messages, Season 2 is a little scarier than Season 1

Unless your child doesn't get freaked out by things such as blood and black-I don't-know-what-it-was dripping from possessed animal trophy heads on a wall chanting a curse, then I would recommend this to be 9+. Aside from that, it is a great show with great role models and great messages. Take Wendy, for example. She shows that girls can be independent and bad-ass. There are also cryptograms and backwards messages hidden throughout the series and at the end of every episode's credits. It's extremely fun to watch the show multiple times and find them, like a scavenger hunt! There are some dark parts and adult jokes ( "Not as creepy as Dipper's internet history!" ) but they should go right over young kid's heads. It's a great show!

Not sure about some of the content

I've only viewed the first episode but I was very uncomfortable with the line "The more you struggle the more awkward this is going to be for everybody. Just, get her arm there, Steve." While Mabel is being restrained off-screen. It's inappropriate given the premise of the scene in particular. This was secondary to the tossed off comment "Don't wait up for me" from Mabel as she walked out with her new "boyfriend". Might be okay for a teen who understand what that means but for a pre-teen, no. I will watch a couple more episodes but I definitely am not giving this the green light in our household just yet. If anything it will be a show that needs parental guidance since it seems to include questionable content.
