What's the Story?
GORDON RAMSAY: UNCHARTED is a reality series featuring celebrity Scottish chef Gordon Ramsay traveling around the world to learn about indigenous foods eaten by local communities. From the Alaskan panhandle to the island of Tasmania, he meets local chefs, farmers, fishermen, and others who offer details about the native flora and fauna that are used as ingredients in their local dishes. Gordon also participates in some of their harvesting and hunting practices. At the end of each visit, Gordon competes with a local chef by creating dishes using local ingredients, and the folks he met during his journey get to choose which ones they like the best.
Is It Any Good?
This entertaining series both highlights and honors the food culture of indigenous populations around the world. It reveals some of the traditional food harvesting and preparation that indigenous communities have used for centuries. It also showcases more contemporary production practices that locals have created to export food products in remote areas. Gordon Ramsay appears humbled by what he sees and learns from the people he meets, but this doesn't stop him from swearing, or showing off his athletic prowess when having to navigate tough terrain. But even during these moments, he remains focused on the high quality of local ingredients and the outstanding textures and flavors they have to offer. Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted is a foodies' dream, and folks who love to travel and learn about different cultures will also find it entertaining and interesting.

Families can talk about the stereotypes associated with indigenous cooking and the kinds of food and drink celebrated by the high-end food and wine industry. Does Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted specifically challenge these preconceived notions about where quality, high-end food comes from and who produces it?
