What's the Story?
F2 FINDING FOOTBALL is a YouTube Red reality series that explores football (aka soccer) culture around the world. Billy Wingrove and Jeremy Lynch, two British freestyle footballers known across social media platforms known as The F2, travel to countries like Japan, Iceland, Brazil, and the US to play the game with local talent, experience different and unique venues, and learn new techniques. Also on the scene: musicians like Steve Aoki and Becky G., who participate in some crazy antics, unique collaborations, and who offer their own insights on the game and the aspects of the music industry that parallel it.
Is It Any Good?
This colorful series offers some interesting looks at how cultural practices influence the style in which people from different countries play soccer. Local celebrity footballers offer insights about what drives them, and who and what influences them on the field. Adding to fun is The F2 doing their own freestyle moves throughout each episode.
The collaborations with popular music performers are entertaining, but sometimes seem a little out of place given the messages F2 Finding Football offers about understanding and respecting cultural traditions both in and outside of the sport. Nonetheless, the show offers a unique perspective from which to think about the football and the people who play it around the world.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about some of the cultural traditions discussed here. Why are some things like cutting corners or bending the rules considered appropriate in some countries, even if it is acceptable in others? How do these traditions factor into the sport at the international level?
Is F2 Finding Football successful in establishing a connection between music and football? Would the show be as equally interesting without including musical guests?
