This Japanese anime is set in Japan and focuses on Japanese female and male characters. The main character Mizu is a mixed-race White-Japanese woman. Mizu is discriminated against due to her mixed race and gender. Mizu is orphaned multiple times throughout the series and has different caretakers in place of her family. This might be the best show I have watched all year. The writing is brilliant, the characters are amazing and fleshed out. But the best things about the show are the visuals and the music. Breathtaking. No really, I had to stop every two minutes to take screenshots. Truly masterful.
Amazing writing and amazing cinematography Directed with such perfection
I don't have words for this
What's the Story?
BLUE EYE SAMURAI follows the story of Mizu (voiced in English by Maya Erskine), a mixed-race woman born in the Edo period of Japan. Due to her heritage Mizu is heavily discriminated against and is made into an outcast in Japan. Having suffered a life of hardships and tragedies, Mizu becomes possessed by a need for revenge. She vows to ruthlessly hunt down four White foreigners who she suspects fathered her; she views them as responsible for turning her into a monster.
This action-drama anime delivers plenty of over-the-top action. Blue Eye Samurai is beautifully animated and visually striking. The action scenes are exciting and stylishly violent. The violence is excessive, with tons of blood sprays and detailed gore. Fans of violent action will likely enjoy the entertaining and brutal action here, but those who don't like very gory violence will want to skip this one.
