One of the best western pieces of anime.
Some of the greatest character development that kids and adults will relate to.
Heck every living soul should watch avatar!
There was a lot going on in the show only the adults will pick up on, my little brain could not comprehend when watching this as a kid.
Rewatching it again as an adult it became a very special show to me
It is one of those shows you should let your kid watch.
So they can watch it again as an adult and understand more and appreciate characters like Iroh/zuko.

11-year old's favorite
My son was almost crying when he finished this series. He absolutely loved it. He said each character was unique and interesting. He is really disappointed it is over.
As the mom, I worried about the violence. However, it is not gratuitous - it is all about struggles, betrayals, etc. The plot seemed to be exceptionally strong.

JUST ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS
One of the best shows for kids and adults alike. This show shaped my childhood like no other and is still really close to my heart. The character development is extremly well done and the filler chapters are what really make this show. There's disable characters (in season 2 and 3) and its so beautiful to see this type of representation done so well. Also, there is a redemtion arch that might be just about the best I've seen/read. The messages throughout the series land really well. Grief is so well handled! Just amazing overall and it gets SO MUCH BETTER in the 2nd and 3rd season. There is violence but I wouldnt say its much and there is no gore. The main character is vegetarian and a monk so he chooses not to act violently when he can avoid it.

Great English Anime
Ithink that if you want your kid too watch a family friendly show for all avatar is great. Its set in a world where there are four nations Water, Earth, Fire, Air. which benders can use for good or for bad. If your kid gets spooked easily then do not watch The episode The PuppetMaster it is in my opinion the scariest avatar episode. But I rate the show 5 stars

The best of the best! Loved it!
My favorite animated series ever. Smart, thoughtful, spiritual, strong, funny. We watched an episode a day as a family at the start of the pandemic. The characters are complex and thourghly thought out. Strong female characters. This is a must watch.

Great show
This show is teaches a lot of great lessons and provides many positive role models for kids. I think overall its appropriate however the main review neglected to mention the presence of anything sexual. It's nothing severe but their are several scenes with kissing, cuddling, and they mention "making out". There's also a scene with a character laying in his tent with candles waiting for his girlfriend. There is scenes were drinking a juice gets a teenager "high" and he acts uncoordinated. The violence is minimal but there are many action scenes with fighting and weapons. It is mentioned that many people die although these deaths are not on screen. A son is burned by his father and left with a permanent scar. There are skeletons shown, and talk about murder and genocide. Despite the more mature aspects the show is humorous and not very dark mannered. It has an excellent plot and provides many positive themes including family, honesty, forgiveness, and friendship.

Avatar is Awesome
This show is by far one of the best shows I have seen. As an adult, I would be perfectly comfortable sharing this show with a child. The characters are funny and they act like children. The show never has any super violent moments and there is nothing sexual at all. Some of the older characters are wise like Uncle Iroh and provide great role models for kids. Highly recommend for young kids.

Every Kid AND Parent Should Watch This!
Avatar: The Last Airbender is an animated series that ran on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008. It tells the story of Aang, a monk child with the unique power to manipulate (“bend”) all of the elements: water, earth, fire, and air. The Avatar universe is also divided into “nations” based on these elements, and the genocidal Fire Nation seeks to subdue them all. Aang, the Avatar, is the only person with the ability to restore balance to the world. The problem is, he’s only 12.
Our story starts a century after the Fire Nation first struck: Aang is discovered — preserved in an iceberg — by two teenage siblings, Katara and Sokka, who lost their parents in the interminable war. They make him a part of their family and go on to assist him on his mission.
What follows is one of the greatest storytelling feats in the history of American television. Don’t be fooled by the fact that Avatar is a cartoon; the world is lush and complicated, and many of the plots have strong political resonance. Its story, too, is a human one: The characters are imbued with a kind of complexity that’s closer to a prestige HBO drama than something that aired alongside Invader Zim. To watch them grow over three seasons is a master class in character building — particularly the profound journey of the show’s antagonist, a tortured Fire Nation prince named Zuko.
And while it has the hallmarks of a kid’s show, Avatar tackles big themes. It’s set in a world on the brink of collapse, where unchecked militarism and greed have caused widespread suffering and chaos. Several episodes follow the plight of refugees, survivors who are looking for safety after being displaced by Fire Nation occupiers. Others look at authoritarianism, with one episode revealing that a city is run by a shadow government of military police, unearthing a disturbing, 1984-esque propaganda campaign. It raises significant questions: about the human cost of imperialism and the dangers of violent nationalism. It also asks small ones, like whether your past defines your future, and what truly constitutes a family.
This show should be standard viewing by every family out there, and I can guarantee it's one that your kids will be coming back to time and time again.

Caution is advised . . .
I found that I have enjoyed this and it actually has good role modeling however it does overdo the violence and brother-sisters being cruel to each other Zuko fighting Azula . . .I think the romance is over done as always and younger kids aren't likely to be ready for this so
IT IS OVERATED IN THE END but if you have older kids this might fill the bill and it does lead to some good discussions-which are important-and I have seen better role models but it's fine otherwise.
