What’s It About?
The KIDS ANIMAL STORIES podcast mixes animal facts into fictional adventure stories narrated by the enthusiastic voice of host Mr. Jim. In the stories, animals sometimes show bravery as they avoid predators and survive with their families. The 10-minute episodes are released almost daily within seasons, and over 400 episodes are available for free on many platforms. All episodes feature cheerful background music and encouragement from the ever curious and positive Mr. Jim to be a "Critter Protector."
Is It Any Good?
For kids who love animal trivia, these stories are a nice way to bring some fun story time to their learning. While younger kids may be a bit confused by the mix of facts and fiction, the Kids Animal Stories podcast has some nice narratives, with language and content appropriate for all ages and the occasional social-emotional lesson to discuss. Mr. Jim is very enthusiastic and curious, and provides good jump-off points for researching interesting species within episodes and on the website. Some little listeners may be a bit spooked by the suspense of predator-prey relationships and light danger, but Mr. Jim's kind voice and the cheerful music keep things light and upbeat.

Mr. Jim is curious about many animals. Why is curiosity an important character strength? What animals are you curious about, and what questions do you have about them? This is a great starting place for doing basic research.
Make your own adventure story about a favorite animal. Can you include some real information about the animal in your story?
