Young or sensitive kids may get scared at aggro animal catcher

The animal catcher scenes were too scary for our 6yo, as others have noted. 6yo cried at how mean the animal catcher was to the animals and found his appearance in “phase 2” too scary-looking. We had to fast forward through any scenes with him. Otherwise, the potty humor, beautiful claymation, and wholesome story were well received. Note, our 6 yo has just started having screen time, and this was only their second movie ever. Additionally, they are a sensitive child.

Fun for family and 4 1/2 year-old

Kept the family entertained and engaged, with our 4.5 year-old asking questions throughout. I'm surprised to see the harshly negative reviews for this movie. For context, our daughter's (limited) media consumption consists almost exclusively of PBS Kids content: Daniel Tiger, Peg + Cat, Sid the Science Kid, etc. Timid stuff. Yes, there are a couple of mildly scary scenes, but nothing that should be alarming for anyone other than parents of kids with sensitivities.

HORRIBLE

I watched this with my two young children (11 & 13) and was HORRIFIED with what was shown in this film. The amount of bullying in this film is a horrible example for children, and I would really recommend talking to your kids about it so that they don’t try to follow their examples. Overall, I wouldn’t watch this again with my kids, and you shouldn’t either.

TOTALLY INNAPROPRIATE

My 15 yr old couldn't handle the scene where a teddy gets tasered. I do not know what the creators were thinking, making a movie like this for children. I am here to protect the innocent minors than cannot take anymore of this violence and trauma. My 15 yr old son said that the prison scene gave him nightmares. I understand that it is created for jest, but the violence and scariness is innapropriate for the audience. DISGUSTING.

Fun movie for the whole family

We were all laughing at the silly jokes—sheep dressed like people, a farmer shaving people’s hair like he’s wrangling a sheep, pigs dancing in underwear. Some toot jokes, but nothing gross. The Aardman humor is all visual here since there are no spoken words in this movie, like the TV series. We all enjoyed the movie. The dog catcher is creepy and mean and parodies some other movie characters. But the sheep and dog, as expected, always outsmart him. I liked the message, too. You can break out of a feeling that life is a tiresome routine by being grateful for those around you and finding pleasure in what’s already around you.

Very Scary for my 5-year-old

We chose this for family movie night based on the ages 5+ review and my 5 year old was scared in many places...the animal control officer becomes unnecessarily intimidating, like a person possessed or a bit demonized. Scenarios were unnecessarily dangerous and dramatic - plunging the animals off of a CLIFF in a prolonged scene? I do not recommend this for 5-year-olds. Funny and cute for adults and older children.
