A good movie with BOTH good lessons and possible disturbing scenes

This review contains no spoilers. Iโ€™ve just watched the full "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" movie not too long ago, and Iโ€™ve gotta admit, it had both good lessons for children and bad-disturbing scenes as well, the whole movie is about two cats and a dog going on an adventure to find a wishing star while several villains are going after them as well. The best benefits of this movie that I would say is that it teach the viewers about friendship, family, loyalty and selflessness. Yet, there are also scenes that might be too disturbing for young viewers, scenes that are disturbing such as on-screen murdering, cannibalism and skeletons of dead bodies are included in this movie, and while there is blood, thereโ€™s only one scene that includes blood which is only about one second long. So yeah, good lessons, deaths and disturbing scenes MOSTLY without blood, and thatโ€™s all. Overall, whether you are considering to watch this with your daughter(s)/son(s)/child(ren) or let them watch this movie by themselves, then I would recommend this movie to any kid who is 10 years old or older or is mature enough to watch this.

Good film to cope with mortality :)

This movie was stellar! I think it hits harder to audiences who have seen the prior puss and boots movies and the shrek films (due to a couple of cameos) but it isn't required to enjoy the film and understand what's going on! The film is definitely a bit more "grown-up" than some other children's movies but nothing crazy. There are a couple of bleeped swears or cut-offs but none of them were in poor taste. Additionally, the film is a helpful lesson to children and older audiences alike about coming to terms with mortality and making the most out of the life you have with those around you. The character designs were immaculate and the voice acting was really fun. The only downside of this film (to me personally, other viewers may have enjoyed this) is there was some singing (from Puss) that felt cheesy and out of place. It's not sensational but it's definitely a fun watch and I highly recommend it to anybody looking for something to do this holiday season!

One of the best animated movies, but not for younger kids

This movie is an ABSOLUTE must-watch, but itโ€™s not for little kids. Do watch this movie with your friends and slightly older family, though. If your child is sensitive to scary content, they probably shouldnโ€™t watch this movie, since it is filled with (epic) fight scenes and a certain terrifying wolf character that leaves a strong lasting impression, and even though story-wise that is a good thing, it could give kids nightmares. Kids older than 10 should be able to enjoy this movie greatly, though: it is definitely one of the best animated movies of the year with its amazing visuals, eye-catching fight scenes with amazing camerawork and motion, extremely memorable characters and meaningful themes. The main theme of the story is death and learning to accept it, and to enjoy living your life until your time comes. Other aspects are touched upon like friendship, found family, mental stability and trust. Some parts of the story could be harder for younger audiences to understand, such as getting cold feet at marriage or the implication of attempted murder. It also has some amount of dark humour: a villainโ€™s henchmen explode into rainbow unicorn particles (they die). However, PLEASE donโ€™t let that stop you from viewing this movie with friends or older family, because it is absolutely phenomenal. The art of this movie is immaculate and the plot is seriously fun and enjoyable. Itโ€™s also hilarious specifically for audiences a little over 10. Puss is lovable as ever. This movie is straight up amazing. My favourite parts are definitely the stunning fight scenes and the sweet and meaningful message. My favourite scene is when Puss has a panic attack but calms down with the help of his โ€œtherapy dogโ€: a charming scene that represents mental health issues being healed slowly. WATCH THIS MOVIE, but not with younger easily frightened kids.

Over all, pretty good

So, let's first go over all negative stuff. The movie has a few curse words(nothing too serious) but it does have them. Also, there is a few kinda violent scenes for sensitive watchers and blood is shown in one of them. I think in one scene, Puss is depicted as drunk, and one of the major scenes does take place in a bar. For younger kids, I suppose it could be a bit scary. There is a certain character who shows no regard for the lives of others(villain). Also, the movie touches some sensitive topics, such as mortality- which is something that can be really tough for a kid to handle, especially at a young age. Now, on the other side of the coin, there are some cool messages and the character development in Puss is pretty cool to watch. The animation is seriously good and very cool to watch. Also, the script writing is pretty good, despite it being a kids movie. Even though I'm not in the Shrek fandom, I still was able to understand the basic plot. The characters are very memorable- even the villains. Also, there were some scenes that really hit hard and carried the plot extremely well. It wasn't too paced, and the amount of plot holes were kept at a minimum. So, over all, I suppose it really depends on the viewer. While this movie is a bit darker, it's overall pretty good. I think it's good to see some kids movies trying to handle mature topics(such as mortality) in a more serious manner as there are some movies that throw the themes around. I would change a few things, but in general, the movie was enjoyable and, in my opinion, the good things in it outweigh the bad. However, maybe you should be the judge of that ;)

Enjoyable movie, but probably scary for little kids.

I really liked this movie! In my opinion, it was a bit better than the first Puss in Boots movie, and the characters were really good, especially the dog! The only thing that I was a bit concerned about were the scenes with the wolf/Grim reaper. I was one of those kids who covered my eyes during Zootopia, so even at my age I got a little spooked while watching these scenes. Parents should know that the scenes with this wolf in it could be considered frightening to children, since in all of them he either stalks or tries to kill the main character with a scythe, at one point drawing a bit of blood in the chilling scene. The wolf also does this eerie whistle while stalking the main character that can unsettle young viewers. At one point, the main character has a panic attack (but, luckily, is helped by another character). Those scenes are probably not for small kids to watch, sensitive or not, because if I was their age I would be scared too. Other than that the movie was great, the comedy was good, and it was not a waste of time!

A good movie with iffy language and some scary scenes.

This movie, visually, is phenomenal. The detail really stands out and it even helps the plot unfold with more greatness and refreshment. The plot itself is pretty good. Itโ€™s structured and made it (for older kids) decently easy to follow. The movie thrives on chaotic action. Throughout the movie thereโ€™s constant fights, threats, explosions, fires, and the like. Some scary scenes are played for comical effect which adds a nice touch of comedy and jokes. Even though these jokes are based out of death, for the average 12+ kid it shouldnโ€™t be too much. The chaotic thrill of this movie increases the tension and enjoyment of each perilous scene. If you or your kid enjoys the climatic chaos, this movie is for you. The movie includes some language. When I say language I mean: Hell, and other rude insults that are played for comedy, they bleep out the Sโ€”T word a couple times but thatโ€™s it. I see a lot of reviews that this movie includes a terrifying wolf resembling death and yes the wolf does look creepy but itโ€™s nothing a 12+ kid canโ€™t handle. In conclusion, this movie is a banger and if your 12 and up and looking for a good movie to watch, this is it.
