Great movie!!
Awesome!! So exited for the sequel! Although pretty good amount of violence and a little graphic. Besides all that this is a hilarious movie. There is a reason there is two movies.

Great movie for adults, but questionable for kids under 12 years old. Language is an issue...
I am a Christian, married father of two children (an 9 year old and an 11 year old) who love Marvel. I was raised reading comic books and watching movies and TV. This film has a moderate amount of violence and unfortunately some sneaky moments of comedic swearing. My kids have been watching Star Wars for a while (films which are also violent but lack foul language) but have not yet seen all of Episode III (due to the mass jedi genocide). Although my kids have unfortunately heard cursing in movies (thank you 80s PG-rated films), they do know that swearing is not appropriate for our family, and they know not to repeat those words. So, I have copies of edited Marvel films where the language has been removed (and some gratuitous violence). I will then let my kids watch those edited versions of films. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is one of my favorite Marvel films due to the character interaction and development into a "family". But I will only let my kids can only watch the edited version (until they are 12 or 13).

Idk why people get angry about Star-Lord kicking creepy space-rats.
Awesome masterpiece, but as usual, people take things and exaggerate them to make them sound way worse. The "animal cruelty" where the main character "kicks animals for fun" is just Peter kicking away creepy rats while dancing. Now, the ACTUAL stuff you need to look out for; Suggestive references 6/10: Drax calls Gamora a "green whore", Quill says blacklight makes his ship look like a Jackson Pollock painting (your kids probably don't even know who that is), Gamora says she's not going to fall for Quill's "pelvic sorcery". Violence isn't bloody, but intense and frequent.

You said it yourself, bitch, we're the Guardians of the Galaxy
Before the movie the GOTG were characters nobody cared about, then after 2014 they rose in popularity. Although not based on the original Guardians (Guardians 3000) this version of the team is much better. They're personalities are fun and makes you wonder why these people are even on a team together. This is a wonderful addition to the MCU.

Not for younger kids
The first scene may upset younger viewers (mom dies from cancer) then the main character is abducted! It is a lot of fun as a movie but is very violent and has very choice language throughout.
Definitely 13/14+

Toxic for kids fun for adults
Exploitative Cancer death scene. Followed by protagonist kicking animals for fun. The humor in this is inappropriate for children, the violence is sadistic. Violence against women is romanticized repeatedly . Violence against men glorified. . For adults this is fun and funny, for kids this is mostly toxic. I feel guilty for showing this to my 12yo

Brotherhood and understanding despite major differences are the strengths of this ''zany'' team of superheroes
