So disturbing and unnecesarily graphic.

Violence: 9/10 Just three violent scenes, vey graphic. A character thinks he might be a robot, so he takes a sharp piece of iron and cut his arm. He takes the blood and spread it on a mirror. VERY DISTURBING. In another scene a character kills another one by stabbing him with a knive. You see blood throug the shirt. A character hit a robot with a metal item, her arm fall out. Sex y nudity 9/10 Full frontal female nudity. Different times, a lot of time. Not displayed on a sexual way however. There is a serious conversation about having sex with robots. Implied sex with robots. Talk about porno. Swearing:7/10 Fuck, dammit... At the ending there is a lot, as happens with the violence y nudity. Consumerism:4/10 One of the three main characters is obscenely rich, he has an enourmous house, with some famous paintings, and thats all. Drinks, drugs or smoking:7/10 No drugs, no smoking. A character is so alone, and he deal it with alcohol. He get drunk almost every day, showing its consecuences, as having a hangover. This is a key part in the plot, and a weak point of that character.

A pretty slow movie, but the end makes up for that.

Pretty complicated movie to understand, but very interesting, and weird. I love the actors in it. And Alex Garland does a wonderful job with the aesthetic. But the problem is, is that its slow.

Truly Brilliant

A thought-provoking and incredibly powerful work of art, Ex Machina leaves you asking meaningful questions long after the credits roll. Every camera angle, scene, and hidden message is intelligent and purposeful, each twist and turn leaving the viewer in awe of its stunning conclusion. There are intense and disturbing moments in this mesmerizing thriller, including two scenes where violent bleeding is shown. Graphic female nudity is also present, particularly in the later part of the film, though context is nonsexual. Objectification of women is a reoccurring theme, though it is entirely PURPOSEFUL and brilliantly executed - the viewer is pulled into the film's trap, seeing harm come to the characters and wanting to defend their 'fellow people' though are they not truly mechanical objects and computers? Additionally, biblical metaphors are a great concept to examine, particularly through the relationship between 'God' and machines and the difference between those with faith in higher consciousness and those in awe of and wanting to be part of reality alone. More than a sci-fi film, Ex Machina dives into what it means to be conscious and if being human is truly recognizable and definable. This film will lead to many relevant and important conversations, and I would highly recommend this experience for those willing to gain a new understanding of their own thoughts and emotions.

Kick Ass!

Wonderful cinematography, great editing, fascinating plot. Does contain violence, with one particularly graphic death as well as nudity and heavy drinking. well worth a watch, but do make sure your kids are mature enough to see that kind of thing

thrilling & groundbreaking

i had to watch Ex Machina as part of a coursework unit i was doing fir British film. i didn’t expect much but it blew me away. ex machina is so simple yet incredible, the nuances are stunning and the story is gripping right up until the end. this film stays with you a long time after the credits roll, as well as redefining what it means to be human and leading to you questioning your entire existence. the twist is perfect, the story is perfect and the visuals are perfect. watch out for a gory violence scene near the end as well as graphic female nudity! not for the light hearted, ex machina is definitely a psychological thriller, so not recommended for tweens/young teens. overall, this thriller leaves you on the edge of your seat and questioning everything you ever knew.

Only one scene that's incredibly violent

A lot of nudity is present and the whole environment of the movie is creepy, with one very violent and brutal scene near the end. A lot of blood is shown and the wound can be seen.

Awesome, for teens only

I watched this last week with my dad and my sister. I thought it was super thought provoking and deep. There are naked female robots shown, and two characters make out, but nothing more than that. A bit of violence is when Caleb cuts himself with a razor, and near the end (SPOILERS) Ava and the other robot stab Nathan, there’s plenty of blood there. The movie has a creepy vibe in general. Expect frequent profanity. Overall, this movie was excellent and the ending really makes you think. I personally would say teens and mature tweens can handle the violence and profanity.
