Super-cute girl power story will entertain parents and children alike.

More than a little offbeat, with a slight nod to adventure time and a little bit of farting. Princess Pinecone is great female protagonist, though still allowed to be sweet and girly. Lots of fun details, including a bevy of the craziest warriors ever seen in a picture book. As an added bonus, none of the fighting in the story ever rises above horseplay levels.

This sweet, clever princess tale has a simple message about wishing for one thing, getting something else, and making do with what you have; it might be even better than what you wanted. Princess Pinecone is a resourceful girl who wants to win the big battle but also is a kindhearted person who works with her pony to be the best pony it can be; the pony's differences bring out kindness and empathy in others.

The vibrant digital illustrations have cartoon-like simplicity and quirkiness. For girls who love princess fare, THE PRINCESS AND THE PONY offers the familiar with a twist. It's silly but has empowering messages and encourages problem-solving and kindness.
