This poetic bilingual story beautifully captures the journey of a monarch butterfly and shows the hardships it endures during its lifetime. Author Ben Gundersheimer's use of short rhyming sentences, and easy-to-read fonts makes this an engaging text for young readers. Señorita Mariposa is an excellent story to read with kids as an introduction to the migration of monarch butterflies and conservation. And it's a great story to share in two languages, as you can easily take turns reading with your kid in English and Spanish.

Author Ben Gundersheimer's text that reads like a love poem of admiration and respect for the millions of monarch butterflies that make this annual trek south. Almada Rivero's warm illustrations showcase all the beautiful places a monarch butterfly will travel during its 3,000 mile journey -- "over mountains capped with snow, to the deserts down below."
